By right your are suppose to only knock on doors that indicate that they participate BUT many homes that would gladly give don't necessarily indicate that from the outside of their homes.

Fair enough in the sense that you dont have to celebrate if you dont want but its kind of a tradition over here so be prepared for knocks on your door

 

but yeah I only end up knocking on doors with pumpkins and decorations
