1 dimensional Winger

11 posts in this topic

What to you defines a 1 dimensional winger? i've seen Man Utd fans on here claim Ashley Young is this. However this seems such a ridiculous statement cos Young seems so complete he is very quick, he has a good delivery, he has a great long range shot and strikes the ball well from distance, he is decent at free kicks. In a Winger what more would you ask for than all this that Young provides?

Show young the inside and you know what's going to happen

Pro - You can rely on him in that situation to land the ball on a head, or in the far post

Con - You can't expect him to adapt that situation if the defender clocks on and shows him to the corner flag, expect him to just give the ball to Evra so he can fall back & try it again

One dimensional wingers are alright if that one direction works. Like Valencia, not Young.

Valencia is more one dimensional than Young, though Valencia is also better in his one dimension than Young is. Walcott is also one dimensional.

One dimensional = the only have one way of reaching the end product and once that avenue is shut off they are rendered obsolete to the game. Walcott and Valencia are prime examples of this imo

you have to be mixed race or towards dark beige

1 dimensional mixed race winger ( must be from single parent family and be dating a soap/music/generic working class bekky) ... specimens include thedore ashley young sinclair ryan betrand oxlade chamberpot. raheem sterling next up on the conveyor belt

no inteligence on the ball.. either straight run to by line followed by erratic crossing into touch or out for a throw in.. frequent over dribble... predicatable .. hugely inflated ego

This class is probably my most hated

followed second by the erratic african descent /franco african striker

usually wtih an absurd name french tribal name like jean paul bonga bonga

always blacker than my soul

typically found playing for obscure french lower league clubs. Always have frightening physiqes and look the business but have shocking work rate and highly erratic finishiing.. they get a big move then get shpipped to west brom or aston villa

His dipping crosses to the far post>>

He just needs to play every week, if he's not playing consistently he can't come in a make an impact, he was sick at the start for them.

I'd love us to get him back one day, even more so than Milner.
