  1. lol Turkish stores to start winning the public its a bit of a half effort move tbh, they shouldn't just be making sugary drinks more costly, they should be enticing companies who make healthier options to drop their prices (tax reduction or whatever)

  6. So in a nutshell: for the two transition years we'll be in the same position we're currently in but with less power to sway things to our needs within the EU. I didn't expect much more. Dunno why anyone else would have. Would be great if we just opted out of the whole idea already.

    THE TRAVEL THREAD

Berlin's best shawarma: Maroush (also do really good vegetarian stuff). Fav cocktail place: Geist Im Glaß. Dope pancakes: Silo coffee. Really nice modern european/Austrian food: Schneeweiß. On a Thursday night Markthalle Neun for the streetfood market in the early evening. On a Tuesday night Edelweiß for a really nice jazz jam session. Going this weekend, tryna maximise my food experience. I'll drop anything I think of.
  8. I don't expect to change anyone's mind here. But I'm giving my point of view. Because people do read. And I think people on the other side of the argument have as much to gain from having their opinions challenged and hearing what other people say as I have to gain from them doing the same. I may have misunderstood what you were trying to communicate before. I understood you were trying to say something like "you don't need to include black people in the poster to get the message across to black gay people" and that's why I responded with the post I did, but I guess that was incorrect and actually the main thing you were trying to highlight was the "emasculating" factor you perceived from it that you didn't like. "If most of us don't have anything against gays" - the thing is, there is plenty of things expressed here that gives the other impression. I wouldn't use the phrase "ham" to describe the strength of my efforts but I'm not gonna lie it frustrates me that so many people would oppose what in my opinion should be non-issues, whenever I see people arguing against people being given more freedoms to be happy in a way that I don't view as hurting others I just think "why do you even care?" - when I see people against a poster that normalises homosexuality, that in my opinion would make black gay people be more happy to feel comfortable as themselves, it just really feels like they're against against someone else's happiness for no good reason.
  9. I think you have no interest in trying to see things from other perspectives, i.e. I think you're being close-minded "you just want to argue" is you just being dismissive. I think through discussion you start to understand people. I see that although the majority of you guys seem to be against one thing or another discussed in this topic, your opinions come from different places and several of you are able to justify your views in an understandable way. I also see that plenty of you aren't able to understand your own views or at least communicate them well. I also feel that several of your views are coming from the wrong place. You might be bored or whatever, but that's because you're not hearing what you want to hear. You maybe want people to hi-five you on your opinions and agree with you and maybe somehow "win" the argument of why one thing or another discussed in this topic is wrong. That's not why I'm posting here. I'm trying to understand others and let others understand my perspective. I find the view of Venom's of the feeling of an underrepresentation of the true community to be a great takeaway point and I'm happy to have gained this understanding that may justify why a group of people who may not have anything against homosexuals (or at least not be actively pushing against it) would be upset by something seen to be promoting normalisation of homosexuality in their community. People aren't easy to change, but understanding people you share this world with is the best way to be less frustrated by them. And the best way to maybe work towards solutions to problems between you and them.
  10. So the point of the posters are to promote being more safe sexually, and getting tested/help when needed. Promoting awareness. Right? You don't think they should make these posters diverse in the need of making the message seem more relatable?
  11. the argument of "Where are the straight pride celebration days?" is as retarded as saying something like "Why don't we get a 'white history month'?". You're saying the same shit about gay people that ignorant white people say about black people. you may feel underrepresented as part of another minority group (your ethnicity or religion or whatever else) - and that's totally fair, but arguing for a celebration of your majority is retarded I don't think its a fair reality in the case of how equality for one group of people sometimes pushes the case for equality of another group, but its unfortunately the way society works right now. - I remember when I was younger there was a lot of effort for pushing of understanding and treating equal of people of different religions, these days it does seem that there's way more higher of a push for promoting equality of people of different sexuality. There was always talk about the inequality in respect to women in the workplace and the inequality in respect to black people in society in general - and no doubt it doesn't feel like society has become more equal for black people at the same rate that society has appeared to become more equal for gay people. So it is totally understandable why comments like Venom's are said. Its like what Dave Chappelle said "The only reason everybody is talking about transgenders is because white men want to do it." and that probably the same for homosexuality, because its a difference owned by white people, the solutions/incorporations into society made for it seem to be way more streamlined. Thing is one could have looked at these posters as "oh wow, they're thinking about black people" but instead it has been taken by at least one of you as "its not right that they're addressing gay black people when the rest of us black people aren't addressed".

  13. you're asking a gay men's health charity to make adverts for heterosexual black couples?
  14. Junior at Look Sharp in Seven Sisters used to give a decent trim - would fuck up your schedule tho
  15. probably because white girl black man is a stereotype, black girl white man would appear "progressive" and what's wrong with trying to normalise homosexuals in the black community? you guys are talking all this "I have no problem with gay people" lark but you're upset at advertising that normalises it?
  16. what agenda are you talking about? also, what are you doing trawling pinknews.co.uk ?

  20. a collection of social media responses http://www.okayplayer.com/music/bruno-mars-cultural-appropriation-twitter-reaction.html I feel like it’s great that he recognizes his influences. It’s great that he pays homage, but I personally don’t think that’s enough. I have an issue with Bruno being an unoriginal artist, he’s not a unique artist, he’s not a creative artist.
