Superstition
Difficult commenting on a hypothetical. I will send them to a very good school in the area where I end up living, regardless of if it's a public or state school. If I have the money, then it won't need to be a factor in my decision. Carpe_Deum
lol @ whatever they want.. they will go to the best school i can afford. the only choice they will have would be amongst the choices i select. and going to a private school doesnt make you snobbish, you might just be more shielded than those who go to state schools, you wouldnt be any more snobbish than the snobbish person IN a state school. tuppatopbrer
How will your kids know the difference between Public and State schooling?how will they not?i knew what it was from an early ageLet me rephrase; How will they know the pros and cons of each education system, without the bias of his/her parents. I doubt that the child will know at the age of 4 or 5 that the next 13 or 14 years of their life would take two quite different paths. Who Knows? Who Cares?
Private, State schools you have to put up with Bullsh!t like doing times tables, basic fractions for 3 yrs in a row coz the teacher can't do algebra. Also in state schools in Hackney too much of the same race in a class ain't good. I'd rather there were more white english kids like when I was younger (primary), I had 7 in my class + an italian, rest were black mixed-race, turk/greek. This is England after all. manuel
public school.allow my kids growing up to be some posh snob, plus I would want them to grow up on the straight and narrow but not for private school fees.

So your kids won't be talking posh, unless you do. I know people who went to Schools such as St Pauls (primary), City of London Boys (wish I went there), Forest, Bancroft and they are not posh or snobs. Alot of these kids come from parents who are from working class back grounds but now have money.
LadyOG
Can I just clear up the fact that public school and private school are infact the same thing.State schools are the 'normal' schools. My children will at least do their primary education at a public school. If Grammar schools are still in existence, I may opt for them to do the selective tests and go to one.

FACE OFF BEYOND
private and public school is a hype you know i realised this from a few people that have done it and from working at a few schools too.its simply a case of showing ya kids that they are at school to learn and giving then MEANINGFUL activities when they aint at schoolyou could be at a private school working every hour to get money to pay for it all and still not know what ya kids up to cos ya too busy WORKING to get them to school.truss me just be very close to ya child and keep a mindfull eye on what he is doing and he will be alrightevery person at my sons school from his dinner lady to his principle KNOW they can call me if my son slips and not to mention friends that know of him so he cant be going nowhere and slipping without my eyes and ears on his arsethe school is not to blame for ya childs discipline obviously dont send ya kid to a sh*t school but if my son comes home without his reading book its HELL FIREIT STARTS AT HOMEtake it from a man that knows my son was not good at reading til I stepped in and REALLY pushed him and made sure he reads EVERYTHING he cant even ask me to buy him a game for his ds if he cant read me instruction manual first.
