What is actually wrong with public school though? If I earn enough money for it then my children are definitely going to one.I would love to send my children to Westminister.
I would love to send my kids to Charterhouse, St Paul's, Westminster, Shrewsbury etc. However, then my moral conscience kicks in, and I realise that those schools represent everything that I dislike about capitalism.

It depends on the attitude of my child/children. If they make a rational decision about where they want to go and can prove to me why etc. I wil let them choose. If I don't believe them and think they've made wrong decision I will over rule it.
lol, how are you going to get a rational decision/reasoning out of a 5 year old?

I can understand this. But isn't that the way of the world? And won't it be even more so by the time you have children? The way I see it is that as long as you instill the right values in your children, they'll get on alright.

I would hopefully be living in a good area and try and send them to a good school.Don't like the characters in these private schools.

Will you send them to a private or public schoolKeeping in mind of how they will turn outCos we all know school is very influentualSame thing with what ppl u will let them socialise withit sometyms seems lyk a no win situation
Financially I'm ok, far 4rm baiding.I've got kids & I will send them to both types of schools so they can get experience dealing with many ppl. The early days I'll just let them be kids.I'll push them more to private schools alot more though coz I want them to me leaders NOT followers. Ultimately though I accept & leave it to them to choose their own paths.I've teach them alot of things myself especially in managing finance.

Won't that be more detrimental to the kid. They would have to adjust from one system to the other... And all this bullshit about "Ah I've experienced both systems, therefore I'm great" doesn't wash with me.Also, the world is going to become nothing but more capitalised in the future m'thinks.
I would just like my child to lead the most regular life possible at a young age, the most common life. Taking them to private school young might dramatically change their intrests and not let them experience 'regular' child life, it's like bringing your child into a niche market at a young age that could possibly last their whole life. It could make my children naive.I would then let them choose, in primary I was in the the smart group that got set extra work and was seperated in class etc. I hung around with the 'geeks' but was also popular and outside of school I hung around with the popular people. The popular people had a lot of different intrests to the smart group, while I hung out with the popular people we played football, play fighting (all common things for a youngster) but when I hung around with the smart people we went chess club and played cricket, they wasn't really into wrestling etc. I likd experiencing both and it smartened me up.My parents gave me the choice to take an 11+ but I chose not too, I had my reasons because of the lifestyle, naivity I saw in the smart kids.I'd like to give my child the same kind of experience. It could be detrimental but if my child thinks the change will be they will choose to stay on at state and if that makes them more comfortable than state school surely they will work better?.

I'm really not sure on this, I'm thinking my state of mind has turned out good living in a bad area, I am appreciative of what I have, not too ignorant about people around me, and respect others equally.I have seen what some private school kids turn out to be like and I don't want my kids to expect to have the best, or be ignorant of others, I want them to have respect for others and to appreciate what they get. But then again I have seen what some people around my area can turn out to be, I wont want my children to be like that either, jackin people unnecessarily, with all the road hype. It's an awkward choice.Raising children is gonna be a hard job.

Its smart but very idealistic, I took my 11+ and went to a state grammar school, and infact my secondary education just as 'normal' as a comprehensive school, I still had thick shits at school who attended only because they lived in the catchment area, except for the fact that I went to a single sex school, I would say that I had a relatively normal education. The would constantly stress to us that 'we were amongst the top 4% of the country' but there were clearly people that weren't.Teachers pushed you, but not as much as you would imagine, the way you fared was completely up to you, which I think is the same in comprehensive schools. Its still the same in your regular private school, you just have smaller classes, better school dinners and more extracurricular activities.
