Lord of the Rings : religious undertones?

still a BIG film regardless. do you think it has religious/christian undertones? i never knew much about RR tolkien or the book, but this is what i gather--the person given the huge responsibility of carrying and destroying the ring is a nobody and a somewhat underclass in his town. (similar to jesus and the other major prophets in the bible)-- the two wizards of evil and good. with the evil one corrupting other tribes against other tribes, and creating a force so powerful..it only makes sense to join them, plus he was under the influence of a much more powerful force (bad spiritual forces?)--the good wizard, although used his powers, his main power was providing moral support to people who had lost all hope, and they who had never fought togthether before were able to fight side by side against a bigger enemy or face annihlation/slavery. (angel?)--the ring itself, and all those tempted by its power, yet it would be power that would take over the person, and as a result release or unleash the ultimate power of sauron. (depicting the power men seek?)plus the other characters in the film and the roles of courage and friendship they shared. and the ultimate battle being a force of all different types of people of earth who normally woudlnt see eye to eye. OR am i chatting sh*t? biggrin.gif

--- and another similarity to religion being that no one is interested. biggrin.gif

lotr has bare subliminals, religiously, racistly, the disturbing thing is no1 acknowledges it
racist in what way? black and white depicting darkness and good? thats how the bible depicts it too tho. black is a name..not a person.

there are no black people in the rightous side, the only black actors were in saurons army, and saurons personal army in lotr3, olive skin, bushy eybrows and wrapped up taliban stylee. i swear every GI in Iraq must've thought they were frodo. this is the type of film that makes children choose the white doll all the time, or choose a white friend because they look friendlier.
