Redknapp happy to have 'one of the best left-backs around'Tottenham - Harry Redknapp can't get enough of Benoit Assou-EkottoAfter receiving a glowing reference from PFA Players' Player of the Year Gareth Bale, Tottenham defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto has been hailed by his manager as 'one of the best left-backs around'.Harry Redknapp's faith in the 27-year-old Cameroon international is demonstrated by the fact that Assou-Ekotto made 45 appearances for Spurs last season, while he was the only player to start in every Champions League game. And, at the end of a season which Redknapp branded 'one of the best we have had', the Spurs boss was quick to eulogise about his reliable full-back."He's one of the best left-backs around," Redknapp told the official Tottenham website."He's quick, strong, aggressive and has amazing ability. His body strength is unbelievable. You watch when he goes for a 50-50, players bounce off him."There aren't many better than him, for sure and you certainly wouldn't want to play against him."Meanwhile, Assou-Ekotto himself was typically modest in his assessment of his own performances last term."I played a lot of games, 45 and I think I played well," he said."When you play one game and do it well, it gives you confidence for the next game. After 10 you have even more confidence and that’s good for the whole season."It was a great experience, especially the Champions League. We finished in the last eight. For the first time (in the competition), that was great."
