Downings been sick this season and hes the best left footed WINGER have, an were stuck with him.It's about picking the best squad, not the best players.Downing and Smith both deserve places IMO...Smith can be thrown in with time left and can chase balls down, if only he hadn't broke his left and got injured before the world cup and he could of played upfront against portugal instead of rooney.. or WITH him.Considering you get to name 11 subs in international matches, there is definately a place for both of these man, because, despite not being near the ability of most of the squad they offer something different.
