If you're looking to do it for a hobby still cop Technic 1210's, can find them cheap. 2 channel mixer is you, there's a few hip hop sites that still do vinyl.Lemme know next time you're in the bits with some free time, I need to pick up some DJ headphones (professional ones) and a next concord (needle), some swag DJ f*cked up one of mine. :D

the response on 1210s>>>>>>>>>>_____________ if a track's too slow and u speed it up using the pitch the result is immediately noticable, other less expensive turntables have a delay. I learned on sum lightweight numarks and when i first got my 1210s i couldn't use them for sh*t, now it's the other way around, which is kinda good because most clubs have 1210s or 1200s as standard. If ur gonna do hip hop make sure u buy scratch toner arms and sum concorde needles.

if you wanna do it seriously...buy a set of Technic 1210s, a Vestax 06 Pro Mixer (05 Pro if you want a mic input), and a pair of Sennheiser HD-25s (headphones)set your decks up in the classic hip hop / scratch style...watch a couple of the classic DMC World DJing Championships DVDs jus to get an idea of what can actually be done on a set of turnatablescop yourself a couple scratch records (DJ Rectangle's ones are good starters) and a copy of DJ Q-Bert's 'Do It Yourself' DVDgo down to HMV Oxford Street/or a cheap vinyl website and buy up a nice handful of tunes you feel are roughly the same tempo and practice mixing with them, get your beat mixing tight, and now u got a whole heap of instrumentals to scratch with as wellmy personal opinion is if you really wanna clock beat mixing quick then get into mixing a form of dance music as well, garage/grime, jungle/DnB, funky/electro etc... that'll teach you how to blend tunes, something a tad harder in Hip Hop but easily achievable once you know your tunes inside outlearn all the basic skills of both scratching and beat juggling early and when you play out you will have the upper hand on any other basic beat mixer, wen you have to jus drop or cut a tune in, you'll now how to do it with style. u gotta be good tho, like me :Dwith that set up you can eventually graduate to Serato, which if you have a wealth of your music on your computer like i do, is essential (and cheap)i fully endorse everything i've jus said tbh-h

LMAO, I had some purple numark belt drives to start off on. First time I played out was on Technics. I failed HARD. :D Had to draw for them the following week and it was like learning all over again. Not what I've got at home now tho.

Hmmm, ok...Speakers?
To save your pee, get amplified speakers.Dont you have a stereo/system with aux input?
Errrm, I have some sort of spaceship looking speakers but not for turntables I'd say, lol...

so long as u got a stereo with aux input ur good to go, it don't need to shake the foundations of ur house. And goliath i know exactly wot u mean, i was used to my lightweight shitters, 1210s u gotta literally wrestle with they're that hardcore!

buy DIRECT DRIVE decks NOT BELT DRIVE if you cant afford a good mixer and good decksjust get a sh*t mixer for £40and upgrade when you have more money.1210s are Technics decks - They are the industry standard (hence the 'ipod of mp3' [players])They are built to last so you can pick up a cheap 2nd hand pair (mk1 = mark 1, mk3 is mark 3, so 1 is oldest version, 3 newest). To be honest id say any decent direct drive decks will do youI used to dj and learnt on some gemini direct drive decks, barely noticed any difference on technics. To be honest, if you can afford to, get Serato Scratch aswell - save alot of money in the long term but 'purists' wouldnt approve of that.

i got mark 5, they aint got that annoying click when u put the pitch on 0% and there's nothing wrong with serato, u still have to know how to dj but ableton is barefaced cheating.
