In honesty, the whole 'justice' system needs a COMPLETE overhaul, since its morally if not monetarily bankrupt.Sentances for crimes need to be changedWhat is considered a serious crime needs to be changed.Housing & use of said prisoners needs to be changedRehab for said prisoners needs to be changed Parliament needs to be changedetc etcIts one of many many many things in this country that we pay for but is a miserable failure.

Most UK jails are jokes imo.One of my old school bredrin just came home about 3 weeks ago & his got bare qualifications, certified in this & that. The one that I was like wtf? was he had a folk lift license amongst other vehicles & he was qualified as a industrial cleaner.When he was in Belmarsh, he didn't have so much goodies just mobs, toiletries, tiny tvCloser to his release date he was taken to a relax prison where he enjoyed most things you'd think wtf? How can he have that in jail.Man had tv, psp, xbox, books, dvd including porn, protein shakes, B/high grade/ to shot, TV, MOBS. Life was alright as far as he was concerned.

Thats what Im sayin by they need to change the definitions of what a serious crime is.IMO, unless its to pisstake levels, prison is there because you are A DANGER TO SOCIETY.So unless you are deemed a threat to those around you, you don't need to be going to prison. Especially for something like you said.But it harks back to teh questionshuold prison be made to PROCTECT the rest of societyPUNISH youor REHABILITATE you?It is rare that all 3 happen.

What do YOU think should happen?Very least I think they should all build a community centre or something for children, allow people that have commited crimes, living better than homeless people, and infact, living better than some poor peopleI know of crackheads who would purposefully get caught shoplifting or something of that kind, or just start sh*t to get arressted, simply so they could spend a night or a few months in a cell and not have to sleep inside the doorway of Connexions.So its a damn shame when Tyrone and Nathaan'Tae are gettin to play Gears Of war twice a week cuz they bored up a shopkeeper.

to be honest everythng you said is what should happen it dont take a great deal of thought to suggest what shouldnt be happening in prison to say the least just look what prison means in the dictionary there are people starving in countries overseas and they are suffereing yet going prison over here is a cakewalk its no wonder you got people coming over here taking the piss cos its not a real consequence all things considering is it?its pretty basicin prison they should not get privileges end of.

You have to understandThere are people in jail that are doing lifeWhen I say life I mean a minimum of 30 years before they can apply for paroleIf they dont have any privileges what incentive is there for them not to run riot on the wing????NONE.Prisons work on a 3 teir scheme, basic standard and enhancedBasic = You've run riot therefore you aint getting any privalegesStandard = The tier your on when you land in a prison you get a basic level of privaledges gym etc nothing specialEnhanced = You can get playstation or gamecube in your cell and spend more money a week on your canteen etc

Like someone else said it depends on the prison, and more specifically the wing your on and your status. Because there are some sections of a Cat A prison like Bellmarsh that is just a room with a toilet, while other cells in the same place have a TV and radio and some communial sections even have a games console.

Of course if a road guy from totty goes jail & his put in the wing where hackney man run sh*t, he will have problems galore BUT EVEN then, jail here imo isn't that much of a punishment.In regards to ur second paragraph, all I'm going to say is ppl I knew/know who went jail came out alot worse & MORE criminally minded coz they made bare links in the pen.But yeah, some ppl will allow it when they come out but most won't imo.

u don't go pen for not havin a tax disc. u go pen whn that is in addition to ur 50 othr offences over time until the judge says f*ckit..ur going pen.age wise the priviledges for under 18s r a joke. they are not in prisons .I think certain prlges shd only be available if ur doing min 5yrs and u get to enjoy them after serving 50% of ur time. all my brdrins bro has lrnt since going pen is to get hench. not trust anyone, and where to find the breh currently f*ck*ng his ex. he been on holiday not pen fot 18months
