u can see what ur local mp voted here - http://www.publicwhip.org.uk/division.php?date=2015-02-23&number=158&display=allvotes

as for the reasoning

people have contacted their local mps n are urging others do the same as to why

1 guy on reddit got this back supposedly

"The simple issue on this one was, as the Prime Minister and the Home Secretary made clear time and time again, the Official Secrets Act is not a barrier to people coming forwards with information. Crimes of this nature are far more serious and the idea that somebody coming forwards with this sort of information, provided to the Police, and then being prosecuted under the OSA, is just ludicrous."

....

"Thanks for the feedback and your kind words about the local work. I hope this explains the vote. The change in the law was simply not necessary. Anyone with information on this issue will not be prosecuted under the OSA, as the PM has made clear. "

same guy seemed to eat it up n mentioned stuff later in the fred about 'do you know how much it costs to change a law' n shot down examples of this law being used in the past to hush guys up, make of that what u will

officers investigating the activities of the late MP Sir Cyril Smith were threatened with court action under the Official Secrets Act

The Act has previously been used to block
from giving information to 1980s-era inquiries into the abuse at Kincora.
