we dont need a monthwe make history all year round
Straight up and down.
Make black history every day, I don't need a month
But why would you want to live in the past where bad things happened?Worser things have happened in history still..Yes we should remember the lives that were taken and we should realise that the act was wrong but constantly dwelling on the past will not lead to progression for anyone. It's all about a fresh start... leave the past where it belong.today is a new era..different peopledifferent generation.

I think it's good to remember the past to make sure those mistakes aren't repeated (I'm talking about mistakes in general here). We should use that to move forward.Don't get me wrong, I agree with you, but I can't just forget about all the grim events that I read took place.

But are you moving forward?or does every young black kid have it in their mind that they are worthless and will amount to nothing better because of the past.I don't want to take away anything from you.But I just want you to see life for today, Like I said, many tragic things have happened in a universal life time that could make us all just wanna greave 24/7.Yes we now know about the past and we must learn from mistakes however if you cannot move away from the thought of the past then you are not learning. You are just keeping a point in life alive.Imagine you was to write a book on the earth, 'this is your life' earth kind of book..Do you want all the worlds greatest achievements to be remembered? or do you want to keep alive a cruel milestone of humanity.. it amaizes me how people love to remember the bad things but then do not aprieciate love and the good times. It's about time we moved on.

What about the jews that did not even get the chance to clean someones house, get a beating, breathe that extra last breathe.. They was taken straight to gas chambers.Of course you will see things biased.I am not here to argue against you though or oppose wrong doings of the slave trade but I would however suggest that you were an idiot if you could not see that other people have suffered tremendously in life aswell and a harsh death should never be taken away from a man or family name just because you think you have had it worse.Whatever starts from slavery is your doings. You choose it to be that way just like you did slavery.

Slave trade isnt the worst thing to happen in history!!It was america getting independence.nah but in all seriousness comments like that is a reason why there shouldnt just be a black history month but just a wider range of stuff when looking at history.

The thing is...It is about slavery and although majority not just black people have witnessed slavery first hand.Slavery still exists today in certain parts of South America.. That never gets the mention though. It's just pro-colour.forget colour and be pro-life.

But are you moving forward?or does every young black kid have it in their mind that they are worthless and will amount to nothing better because of the past.Well, I have a job (part-time, but it's better than nothing), go college, have good friends, a loving family, etc... I can say I'm doing pretty well and moving forward. About the underlined: I wouldn't know about that. I know most black people I par with don't have that mentality.I don't want to take away anything from you.Safe.But I just want you to see life for today, Believe me, I do.Like I said, many tragic things have happened in a universal life time that could make us all just wanna greave 24/7. Yes we now know about the past and we must learn from mistakes however if you cannot move away from the thought of the past then you are not learning. You are just keeping a point in life alive. If learning more about how black people first came about to the Western Hemisphere (along with the hardships they faced, even up to this present day) is such a crime then sue me. I know you're proud about where you came from and how you learned about what life was like when your ancestors lived here. I'm doing the same. Imagine you was to write a book on the earth, 'this is your life' earth kind of book..Do you want all the worlds greatest achievements to be remembered? or do you want to keep alive a cruel milestone of humanity.. it amaizes me how people love to remember the bad things but then do not aprieciate love and the good times.Obviously I want all the world's great achievements and moments to be remembered, but you can't just blot out everthing else. Black people didn't just magically appear from thin air and have a straight-forward easy lifetime with a few holes in the road. When it comes to racial jokes, etc. I swear. 60% of the time it's about black people (not trying to sound like I'm whinging or preaching, it's just something I have personally noticed). It's about time we moved on. That goes without saying, though.

Black History month is not about living in the past and remembering the bad things that happenedIt is about celebrating the culture...and learning about the past...a reminder of black achievementsTrue say you shouldn't rely on one month in a year to educate yourself on ur roots but stillIn a history class at school...students are hardly taught about history that involved black people...im guessin mainly because of the sylabusso im guessing this is why there is a month dedicated to black peopleAng tight the heads who always think the whole month is jus about slavery biggrin.gif

Is it.
it is.
Very well.Too the white people that have a problem with Black History Month? Why do you have a problem with it?
i wouldnt say i have a problem with it as such, its just like someone said , history is history , i dont see the need to label it with a colour .its like 1xtra being named home of ' black music ' , you dont see any other station being named ' home of white music ' and im sure if there was a station with the slogan ' home of white music' , there would be several complaintswhy label things with a colour ?
Maybe 'cause it doesnt have to be labelled White for everyone to know its White.I mean you have MTV1, 2, Flux, TMF, Smash Hits, VH1, VH1 Classic, Magic etc. They are all White music channels that have a bit of Black here and there. When you go to most museums and that, its White history. Same as when you read a paper.Stating that its Black shows specifically what it is.That arguement is dry and dead anyway. Its blatantly obvious why its called that. Same with BET

Alright then who do the reparations for slavery go to? Who would you give money to? Who do you think have been affected by slavery?

Yes I learn about my roots but it isn't made a big deal out of.Learning my roots is a 'choice', the same way yours is only it is publicly promoted and made a big deal about when no other race has a month let alone a day dedicated to themselves. How important is your skin colour though? all skin colour is, is a mentality brainwashed into peoples minds for loads of different reasons.Think about it, You have the same brain capacity as another human being, you can think like us, you can move like us, your body shape is like ours.. you have all the things we have; a smile, senses, hands and feet with the same amount of toes and same amount of fingers and thumbs.. you also have your innerself which is the person you talk to a lot of the times like I am talking now inside myself. What's so different?People intentionaly or unintenmtionaly segregate themselves from other human beings. We all do generalise, even I do at times but when you can see the facts and you can see things in a transparent sense, it is then you realise that there is no difference between you or me. We ain't even different peoples, we ain't even different nationalities and it is then you find that whatever our cultures be, whatever language we end up speaking it is all down to choice of others and personal choice. When you think for yourself you realise that nothing really matters but we are in the same boat only someone has painted us different colours so we can argue amoungst eachother. We are living a life of Jerry Springer and there is some supreme life being that is getting enough entertainment from us, I try not to give that being thesatisfaction.p.sThe racial jokes thing is probably your own parranoia. I know more English, Scotish and Irishman jokes or Jewish jokes then I do black jokes and even then it is supposed to be taken light heartedly, with sense of humour. If something is a joke then it is a joke. Even if someone has a white joke I ain't gonna be pissed off. Not like it is being said seriously, I will laugh along (if it's a goodern)

The thing is, you want the spotlight.. you want to be this weeks number one. You want to have all the headlines..and you don't want any critisism for it.it's not gonna happen. Not with the world that we live in.I agree, maybe more needs to be said in class so the young children learn. I will give you that one.

That is just complete sh*t.I'm sorry but where does it say that MTV is a white channel?Even has black presenters and does play black music but also mixes things up so it remains diverse to suit everyone..this is what I mean, you want the whole show.. give you a penny and you want a pound.YOU label things Black. WE do not label things white.Don't use that lame excuse as a reason for your actions.

MTV is a channel for EVERYONE. It's not good enough. You want your OWN channel.an they say segregation comes from white people.I can flick through the music channels and out of 12 9 of them will be playing black music or have a black person on the TV.How can you possibily complain or say you are less equal?
