And a lot of the same ones from back then still exist.From what I've seen, in general the majority of families who live in these areas do find it hard to get out & they end up raising generations of kids in the same area.And, like one of the kids said on the programme, you're kinda born into the local "young team". A lot of kids don't really have an alternative. If your big brother/cousin/uncle/dad was involved, chances are you will be as well. And even good kids get sucked into it as well, noone wants to be called a poof by their friends, so they get involved in fights & stupid stuff to fit in.And these areas can be utterly depressing, so in some cases I can understand that these kids' lives are just hopeless. They have no prospects, and nothing else to do, so they just get hammered at the weekend & get into fights. Which, to me, is more worthy of sympathy than these young (mainly black?) kids who want to be gangsters cause they saw 50 Cent on TV in a bulletproof vest or they watched Scarface.But I am definitely NOT condoning what some of these kids do, cause a lot of them are just nasty little bastards, regardless of their background.real talkwot i woulda said if i coulda been arsed Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Cipher Posted January 28, 2008 Report Share Posted January 28, 2008 Also WITH this materialistic/money orientated extortionate society, parents often work ridiculous hours, and are not always there to raise their children, so instead the kids are raised by music, movies, and other people on the street who are in no position to be "educating" anyone.Getting home and sitting your kid infront of the tv isnt parenting, you HAVE to EDUCATE them, make them AWARE of certain things, make sure that the person they are growing into is a mentally stable, decent one..I feel nowadays, people do not really know their children, my parents certainly do not know me, but then I come from a broken homes..
