So TF, being the Music Mogul you are how do you plan to erase the Yank jibes. Whats your plan of action? Maybe do a tune with Kano and Ghetts? That wil get the UK on their side potentially. Also, get Durryt boi to shoot a road DVD with them man documenting how hard they are. Put a couple goons in the back flashing guns like its Smack DVD
I dont plan anything. It is what it is. Not like the UK scene right now is financing rewarding. They have fans here, so they keep doing them & anyone that tags along cool.Your go broke trying to convert man here.
but thats the thing i think people dont see them as reppin the uk as ironic as it soundsand those reasons say it all...not bothering with the uk because its not finacially rewardingis everything about money?i get the feelin them man dont care bout being felt over here because they are big in the states which is fair enough... but then dont expect any love over here.
Your getting it twisted...They rep UK their way. It's home, but some of the UK industry is bullshit and if you get wrapped into it your lose yourself. A example of what I mean is this, they dropped Streets All Salute for HERE independently, invested in - UK industry accepted (i.e not cheap or your bredrin) radio plugger, video plugger and P.R. company. They shot the video for Cheerio, now whatever your thoughts on the song audio wise, visually it wasnt a cheap video, infact its high standards for a UK indie video especially them times, then they got the cameo with Kanye, submitted the video and Base said they wouldnt playlist it on ANY rotation as they "wasn't impressed".Radio plugger couldn't get the song playlisted on none of the specialist stations. So away from the P.R. company and the money they spent on advertising, the lack of support effects the WHOLE project from getting to the roads and public. The plan was to tour off that album in England, shoot glossy videos for "Your In Da Army" with Juelz HERE (which would have got the road HYPE & if you knew how hard it is to get Juelz over here you'd understand), do the song with Nicole Wray (back to a little mainstream/chick effort), and then finish up with the Baby Blue track before the UK starts crying "them man eating but not putting nobody from the UK on, I dont like that sh*t...So after the industry didnt in ANY way support "Cheerio" or the specialist DJs even take the initative to take a banger of the CD and put it in rotation like they would with any US album, they said f*ck it, we aint playing these games or else we will end up going back to our Stapleton days on these guys out of frustration. Imagine you ring a DJ to ask him you playing X record and he says nah I'm not feeling it G, I glad you rang tho cos I was wondering if I could be your DJ... SMH.Anyway so realistically the only thing left was and still to this day is to shoot videos for Channel U and that helps but it cant do everything and it aint worth going crazy with glossy video p when a £700 video will do the same job. They left a year between Cheerio & On The Roads videos.Effectively out here S.A.S are becoming more niche, which is why I said they got fans here and they let you know when their releases are out and put them in easy accessible places for everybody so any new fans that get involved cool, but all this running around doing extra sh*t to gain attention and the politics, they aint interested, cos the guys that have to get it to you (the public) aint interested.Another example they did the London Bombing Tribute tune, sent it out to all the radio DJs and none of them played it, since then they aint sent out music to DJs.
And this is why TF will know more than most. He KNOWS more than what meets the eye. Thats why when we cuss them for what we assume and he says things that we didnt know, hence the confusion when we talk about them being Yank and not "road" and him not seeing that. Now you've said all of that I can see why they dont grind out here. The industry are straight hatin' on them. That 'London Tribute' song SHOULD have been played. Everything about it was right to me. From the sample and beat to the rhymes and even the victim guest speaker. Some may say it was cheesy but I thought it served its purpose. They couldnt even get specialist airplay and they were with DipSet? People know the name so why arent they gonna give them a chance to breathe? I know its coz they want the official spot, its rhetorical. Pisstake really, greed is a bitch. Now TF hear what I'm saying, remember what I said to you on MSN regarding SAS, lets do this!!! Email ting is long, real sh*t. I've got sh*t ready from now
truss this thing to wanna add another chapter / 'analysis'. even tho TF broke it down, it was common news from way back that SAS were never signed with ROC, or dipset as much as they tried to play it. nothing against them personally but they are wack and obviously TF will rep them till kingdom come, but SAS will NEVER blow. not here, not US thats just harsh reality theres nothing to hate on them for from the industry they just dont cut it. the sooner they use their contacts to find and push the next MC-british whos much better than they will ever be the better.

All this talk about SAS not getting played on MTV Base or on major radio stations & noone's mentioned the most obvious reason for it:THEIR MUSIC IS sh*t.It's that simple.

I feel thats harsh, the bombing tribute should have been played. On specialist shows at the very least
wot tune is this? i wanna hear it now
When I get home I'll upload. It was a sped-up sample of R. Kelly's Missing You (I think that was the title off self-titled album) with the chipmunk effect that Kanye had going on them times. Quite cheesy but it served its purpose and could have got airplay them times IMO. Me being a tastemaker as you know, my word should be taken seriously :D

Didn't say it was.But if you want to get played on these outlets, putting out quality music would be a good start, surely?

So how is it that simple? The point is quality music is debatable to everybody...I know people who think Cheerio is a smash and people who think its sh*t.Do you like Ironik's tune? Would you consider it quality music?

Obviously the term "quality music" is totally subjective, but it seems to me that most people who hear S.A.S. think they're sh*t. Obviously some people like them, but the majority of people who hear them don't.So, to me, that suggests that maybe their music just isn't very good. And no, I don't like Ironik's tune. It's awful.

Sooooo the same way the term "quality music" is totally subjective, is the same way sh*t music is again totally objective, right? What are you basing this on? Did you not hear me say they sold more units than Swiss who had the whole industry on his nuts for "Cry" and Baby Blue, who last time I checked was the queen of UK hip hop, according to 1Xtra.Ok, so if its awful yet its on all media outlets, doesnt that show that irrelevant of music being sh*t or quality in your opinion, it gets supported by them outlets.

Ironik is supported by a Major, so it gets supported by those outlets, moan that he got signed, not that his sh*t gets played IMO

tbh i reckon people r pissd they went stateside n gt buzzin n the whole dame being on their nuts back then situation...plus sas never really intergrated into the system here really...no memorable collabs on anyones tracks that did the rounds or features on any big U hits...all for reason i know but still...there is many factors that have led to the them being in a position where they get flown out to european destinations but cant get a decent booking here in uk...weird imo

S.A.S. will never get big love here cos they compromised their accents to fit in, no wonder they in no mans land wen it comes to a dedicated followingok i'm not saying they sound American like they did on that first Hot 97 recording, that was jus disgracefulbut they dont spit british, not in the slightest. then they top it off wit bait "oi oi" and "looooondon boysss" and that jus adds insult to injuryif anyone wants to argue that they don't sound American at times i'm a start upping tunes and breaking down certain parts of their bars

A lot of rappers compromised their accents and never been out of London... BUT your missing the point S.A.S lived in New York and Haze lived in Pasadena all of them on basketball scholarships, there accents naturally changed. I could find you the same tracks from when they was out there and when they was re-recorded here to show the difference in their accents. They have a following. A following that paid £16 for Streets All Salute here, not to mention the Americans who paid like £20 to get it. Remember I see the numbers.Lol at bars sounding American. Creamy its cool you dont like them init.

yeah the accents r going to change automaticallythe amount of uk people i know out there now who got a american twang when they talk. its just normalaparantly i had a tiny bit in certain words after 4 months out there.. (certain words, like WATER for example) dont know why, but that quickly went.but my cousin, he lives here now. for about 4 years. he got this bait american accent.. but with london slang.... and some words he sounds just sound straight ENGLISH... pretty mad..so i can completly understand 5 years or so living out there how the accents r f*cked......
