The transfer rumours silly season is upon us once again. The January window is about to be flung wide open and the press cannot help but link every top player in Europe with Chelsea. One such example is the ever-present 'Chelsea to sign Gerrard' headline. After turning down a move to Stamford Bridge at the last minute in the summer, Gerrard is still being linked with a multi-million pound move to West London six months later. The magic figure of £30m is bandied about the press regularly. The main reason for the continuing Gerrard rumours is Liverpool's failure to transform themselves into realistic challengers for the Premiership title. On current form they may even fail to secure a place in next season's Champions' League. This is not good enough for the Anfield Dynamo."If we're moving forward and I'm successful at this club then I won't need to go anywhere else, but if things aren't looking good I'll have to see what happens in the summer," said Gerrard. "I'm 25 at the end of the season and I think I've got six or seven years left in me at the top level to win things, so hopefully the turnaround can happen quite sharpish."I'm in a difficult situation because I'm a fan myself, I want to win things at this football club, but I haven't got time on my side. I can't really wait three or four years for the club to be turned around and to be made into a title-winning side. I'm hoping that will happen from now until the end of the season and that, come the summer, we'll be in next year's title race. I'm not giving up now, but look at the table."Liverpool are currently seventh in the league, 15 points off Chelsea at the top, and must beat Olympiakos 1-0 or by two clear goals this evening if they are to progress into the knockout stages of the Champions' League. Failure to do so could result in Gerrard's exit from Anfield next summer. If Liverpool don't live up to Gerrard's expectations Chelsea must be favourites to sign him. The Blues' financial clout in the transfer market is enough to ensure that. It is also well known that Mourinho is an admirer of Gerrard's -- but whether he'll sanction a move for him only time will tell. Personally, I feel it's written in the stars: Steven Gerrard will play in Chelsea Blue sooner rather than later.

Lol, I dont think Rsonist can end anyone at the minute...Besides you end yourself, Gerrard never ever intended to leave, never held the club to ransom, smh. Highlights your football knowledge of your own club really...Definition of a e-joke.

Where in there did he say anything on par with what Adebayor said?"I'm hoping that will happen from now until the end of the season and that, come the summer, we'll be in next year's title race. I'm not giving up now, but look at the table."Legend.When I read that I KNEW he was going to stay

f*ck it, Murks did Gerrard not hold Liverpool to ransom for two summers and throughout a whole season?Did he not hand in a transfer request and leave training?Did he only stay when he was offered a last ditched improved contract making him the best paid player in the league? Before you answer, I think you should know I got quotes sunny Jim.

"Madness broke out," he said. "I was sitting dazed at home, watching the TV, and when I saw fans burning an old No 17 shirt by the Shankly Gates, it did my head in. Show some respect. Don't you know how this is tearing me apart?"Dad begged me not to go, but I replied, 'look at the TV, fans are burning my shirt, the club aren't stopping them, Liverpool don't want me any more'."I stared at the TV through flowing tears. I was suffocated by stress. My head was banging, and I was eating paracetamol like Smarties.'We've made the point that we would like Steven to be with us forever'"It was the lowest point of my career. I broke down. Panic breakdown. Complete mess. Could I hand in that Liverpool armband? Could I look the father I adore in the eye again?"Could I let the Kop down? No. I couldn't jump over the edge of the cliff. I could see the great possibilities of Chelsea, but my heart wouldn't let me leave."Finally, my mind was made up. At 11pm that night, on July 5, 2005, I called my agent to tell Rick Parry (Liverpool's chief executive) that I wanted to sign."My heart stopped racing, and I put the paracetamol away. The following morning, I awoke with a smile on my face for the first time in weeks."Gerrard can at least rest assured now about his value to Liverpool, as Parry confirmed that the club want him to stay at Anfield for life.Parry said: "We've made the point that we would like Steven to be with us forever. He's been with us since the tender age of nine and we know that his love for the club is pretty deep."So the fact that he is saying he wants to be with us long-term is the sort of news all of our supporters want to hear."LEGEND.
