Kameni interest mountsPrem clubs back on Cameroonian's trail

Newcastle United and Fulham are the latest clubs to be linked with a move for Espanyol goalkeeper Carlos Kameni after Tottenham were again said to be monitoring his situation. The Cameroon international's contract with Espanyol runs out at the end of the current season and the club have stated that they have been given no indication he will accept their offer of a new deal. That would leave Kameni free to talk to other teams and Newcastle and Fulham are keen to try and tempt him to try his luck in the Premier League after sending scouts to watch him, according to Sport.Tottenham have had maintained an interest in the 24-year-old keeper for many months but, despite the reports, have yet to make an official move to prise him away from the Barcelona-based outfit.Kameni has said in the past that he would be willing to pen a new deal with Espanyol, but after the first two rounds of talks it was revealed that the two sides' positions on his salary were some way apart. Both Fulham and Newcastle have outstanding first-choice keepers in Mark Schwarzer and Shay Given, but the Cottagers only have veteran Pascal Zuberbühler as back-up and the Magpies Steve Harper.

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says he hopes Ze Roberto and Mark van Bommel will be staying at the Allianz Arena. The contracts of both players, who have been first-team regulars under Jurgen Klinsmann this season, expire in the summer, but Rummenigge has hinted that the duo could be staying despite reports to the contrary in the past.Ze Roberto had been thought to be interested in a move to America, but it would appear that he has now changed his mind:"His agent has said that Ze is interested in staying at Bayern," Rummenigge told SportBild and also confirmed that he had had 'good talks' with van Bommel about a contract extension beyond 2009.
