It's a priority, but not as much as an attacking winger/SS with good end product and edge.Plus, who's available as a GK?

Wenger Gunning for McGregorARSENE LINING UP CUT-PRICE £4.5m BIDBy Graeme Bryce, 17/01/2009http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/scottis ... ngers.htmlARSENE WENGER is weighing up a shock £4.5million move for Allan McGregor which would solve Rangers’ financial worries — and allow Kris Boyd to remain at Ibrox. Sport of the World understands Arsenal scouts have been at recent Rangers games to report on the Scotland keeper’s current form. Unlike earlier in the season, they were able to give boss Wenger a glowing reccomendation after the Gers No1 rediscovered his best form. It was thought Newcastle United’s Shay Given was Arsenal’s top target but McGregor may represent better value for money for cash-conscious Wenger. The Arsenal boss was impressed by the Scot’s outstanding displays on the way to last season’s Uefa Cup final and has had him on his radar for some time. The Frenchman even considered making a move for the 26-year-old last summer but his interest cooled when he discovered Gers valued their No1 at around £8million. Wenger decided to put his faith in first-choice Manual Almunia and Polish No2 Lukasz Fabianski instead. However the Gunners boss has been unimpressed by Almunia’s form this season and isn’t convinced Fabianski has shown enough to replace the Spaniard in his limited top team appearances to date. Now, with Rangers desperate to offload one top team star to raise at least £3million, Wenger may try to push through a cut-price £4.5million move for McGregor. If the Gunners do firm up their interest with a bid it would free up McGregor’s £16,000-a-week wages from the Ibrox wage bill, after the keeper negotiated a lucrative new long-term deal last summer. Ironically Arsenal’s North London rivals Spurs and Newcastle were tracking McGregor at that time. However the keeper made it clear he wanted to stay at Ibrox, where he came through the ranks from youth team. But with a tried and trusted deputy, Neil Alexander, waiting patiently in reserve the time may be right for Mac to move.

i'm not really sure how you decide what's more important between CB,keeper,CM and an attackerbut i do know that a centre back is NO way our last priority, absolutely no waywenger has tried all kinds of centre back combinations between toure, gallas, djourou, silvestre and songthat in itself says it alli think they're all as important as each other in the sense, without one the rest wont make all of the difference if we signed arshavin we may become a bit more efficient in attack but good sides and direct sides would still expose our defensive unitsame way if we signed a centre back, the lack of protection from our midfield would still get exploited and our centre backs would still get exposed, whilst we would be so predictable going forward and lacking an attacking edgei didn't expect us to sign anybody at the start of the window so if we isgned arshavin i'd be happysomething better than nothing..

Put in order the worst out of...AlmuniaGallas/ToureDenilsonEboue/BendtnerThen you see your priorities imo. That said if you address 3 out of 4, with LUCK, you can get away with the fourth. For me that position is CB.Purely for the fact that for 7 months last season it didnt get exposed.Almunia was born & will always be swag.

gallas/toure may not be worse than almunia as individualsbut it's not really about that when as a pair at the heart of our defence they "cannot play together" apparentlyso much so that wenger has broken any 'partnership' they had(not to mention gallas and his off the field drama)the way they got exposed last season after those 7months was INEVITABLEand it is STILL the casei wont bring almunia into it too much because you hate him beyond reason so it would be pointlessbut this season he has been less at fault/exposed overall than toure/gallasand he has performed better than eboue; the same eboue who is falling apart by the game and benefits the opposition more than us..but still, you think our FIRST priority is a keeper but i don't think anybody else does..the need for a player in each of the positions are all as important as each other

Gallas & Toure have both done the job in previous years, Almunia hasn't. I blame him. Not just for my dislike of the c*nt, but cos he's SHITE. When you got Denilson in front & Almunia behind no partnership at Arsenal against good/top teams is going to work with those two factors. We need a proper holding midfielder to play next to Cesc, and let Denilson come in for Cesc or just shot him before he becomes the next Emirates fans victim.Eboue needs to take a back seat & at times so does Bendtner but I'd still keep both.

New gk would be my fourth priority.Need to sort out DM first (which Wenger will never do especially as Song is showing improvement)Then CBThen attacking wise (the return of cesc, eduardo, rosicky and walcott should do this but it's whether or not we can wait that long, i've never seen us create so little under wenger)No point talking about a new goalkeeper as Wenger is very happy with Almunia and Fabianski.

Almunia is top 4 goalkeeper in the premiership and have saved us on numerous ocasions, I think he is top class and getting better every season whilst we got more then able replacement in Fabianski.Centre backs... tough question but I think we are sound in that department, its more lack of concentration and confidence rather then being bad centre backsDefensive mid.. nothing here needs fixing, we probally got the best up and coming defensive/box 2 box mid in europe with Denilson, he covers so much of the pitch and is still growing physically and has few years under his belt in the prem and its starting to show, also popped up with vital goals and can pass the ball with suprme accrucay even in the 90th minute and have the first touch of a top midfielder throughout the whole game and I can't say that about many under 21s in europe now just a top talent. Then we got Song who is more of a holding midfielder/centre back who can come in and do a shift again another stocky player coming to the fore having more impact on the game.Attackers? we dont really need any attackers but maybe someone whos different offers us more unique personal style of play like Arsharvin.

we've needed an attacker for 2 years1 different to what we hada more direct, pacey player with goals in himalthough some people might think that is walcott or will become himi'm not 1 of them though

Krjancar would be perfect if we didnt have Nasri, albeit he plays a better left wing role then Nasri he drops off into Centre mid and left back over laps just like pires/cole few years ago, cloest operation ive seen to that.

not even solely referring to senderosgallas isn't the right partner for him eitherand the same goes for the others he has played withhe has been under performing but why sell himgallas will be gone EOSsilvestre should never get a look insenderos isn't a player i expect to startdjourou, if he doesn't make a claim for a place this season he never willtoure has a few years in him but he does need to work hard to get back to his better years
