ill see what kind of "metro" apps come out (theyve stopped using that term but havent come out with a new name)

ive got a 7" tab right now, not sure ill have use for a 10" one, its like windows phone, i waited a lil while, then got it, but it didnt really impress me, at the time i had it it was very limited.

but ill see how windows RT pans out and how developers make use on the hardware and software, but ill have windows 8 so i doubt ill cop or need one

True but the Surface has the power to compete with laptops in the market around the £850-£1,500 which would be catastrophic for them to sell at such a low price as Laptop sales would crumble.

With the iPad there's no way could it compete with a Mac and that's why Apple could set the industry standard and unless people start to realise that their iPad or Note doesn't have the resources outside their company to expand or enchance the boundaries then it really is a limited machine.

Microsoft owns a large stake in the software and hardware that runs multi billion pound businesses and governments, this alone allows the prospects of the Surface an unthinkable prospect built on such a powerful platform.

Everyone's had enough of carrying around nothing more than a large £500 mobile phone that caters for angry birds, time to really take the Tablet to a new level and we need the groupies to change their thinking, anything is possible with Microsoft whilst your thinking can only be restricted within Apple's, Samsungs boundaries.

oh I was talking about with windows RT tablets, not the ones with the full desktop on them

they will be more expensive if theyre the ones youre looking for

although IMO itd be better to get the RT version and just have a windows 8 computer, cause running full programs on there will be a chore

We'll admit to being a little blown away when Microsoft launched the Surface -- it was an impressively polished tablet that we had heard barely a whisper of leading up to the mysterious launch event. But, there was one thing that we were still left wondering: how much would it cost? Now, with Acer getting all in a huff about competition and Microsoft conceding that some OEMs might be a little upset when this thing ships, we might just have an idea for you. According to an inside source, a session was held at Microsoft's recent TechReady15 conference in which all the launch details were laid out. If things go according to the plan detailed then, the Surface for Windows RT tablet will be launching October 26th -- no surprise there -- at a compelling price of $199.

That MSRP, almost certainly lower than Microsoft's own cost, would line it up against the Nexus 7 and even the Kindle Fire. It would put Windows 8 on the map in a big way and give a lot of people a lot of reason to try out an operating system that is going to feel rather different than previous incarnations. The question is: will it drive enough sales of media and apps for Microsoft to recoup its loss? Or, will companies like Acer put up enough of a fight in the months between now and October to keep Microsoft from undercutting its own partners? We'll find out soon, dear readers.

its good, just depends what you want a tablet for, im not really a fan of the UI tbh, i prefer widgets and stuff, got a few live wallpapers aswell. and the customisation. also the fact that if i dont like a part of it theres 10s of different ROms i could choose from and just flash it and have a brand new tablet.

but saying that, theres not really much to do with tablets, with the note 10.1 theres more with that pen and the photoshop it comes with and those kinda apps for creative types, but other than that its just the same apps on a phone only bigger
