Put the fees up, too many cunts in University that are punching above their weight.Need to seperate the genuines from the fakes.
wouldn't putting the grade requirements achieve this better than putting the fees up?

Well no coz A Levels are getting easier. Also there's so many universities offering so many courses that everybody that wants to go can go to one somewhere. It's not even that some unis are sh*t, it's that they offer courses just because they can, not coz they're good at them. South Bank for example. They should just stick to nursing related courses. No offence to anyone that goes to South Bank. Well, none intended anyway.

ok, maybe not the grades, but the standard of education then. if that means revamping the a level system then that way, but either way, making it so You have to be educated to a higher standard to get into unialso @ Tulse, if You're portraying a real person with that complaint, in 2nd year, You'll notice it's a completely different story. nowhere near as many waste, unserious students in second year, them guise be doin their first year 2nd a 3rd times

Without being an entrepreneur or being a labourer or doing a job that usually requires a degree, what's your chances of earning over £25k a year?Like what can you do? Bar illegal activities. 'cause this is why people go to uni, people wanna be able to make something for themselves and not everyone is an entrepreneur

good point. its not the students that are or were at fault, its the universities and the system that wasnt able to be forward thinking enough to offer 21st century courses with a strong emphasis on practical experience, people skills and all the things that are reqd to find a 'job' aside from your degree certificate. secondly, top uni or not, ALL UK graduates are fighting for the same jobs that anyone in the EU or many commonwealth countries with good degrees and good english (which is very common) are also applying for which doubles the number of applicants.

What's wrong with all of those things? A labourer can include an electrician. We need them. You don't have to be sweating building houses all day. Also, there are opportunities to work your way up from the bottom in most companies. Yes a lot of companies have grad schemes but even top 10 employers like Deloitte have people that have worked their way up. I went on a training course not long ago and there was a chick there who left school at 16. While I'm still doing my accountancy qualification, she's finished hers and has some 6 years work experience. For some it would be better to hope that this will happen than to go to uni, get stupid amounts of debt and come out and hope to get a similar opportunity but as a grad.

Are you serious mate? You were the guy before who seemed to think that everybody who didn't go to uni became a criminalMost people have jobsThere's nothing wrong with being a "labourer", especially when that category includes plumbers and construction managers who make £60k+ a yearWhat's the point somebody going to do a pointless degree course at a pointless uni just because they can't face reality and get a sensible job? C/s what Stringer Bell said. People need to get a grip.Plus, what A Bit Better said. Higher education isn't the be-all and end-all when it comes to success, especially for people who aren't particularly academic, which is a lot of people who are going to uni on 3 C's at A-Level (or worse). There are options out there, it's just that most people don't realise because uni is forced down people's throats to the point where it's almost compulsory these days

Toxic extinguisher fired at student protesters by police medic A police medic sprayed a fire extinguisher at point-blank range into a crowd of student campaigners, it was revealed on Thursday night. In pictures, the officer can be seen discharging the halon device – banned for civilian use because of its environmental impact – above the head of a demonstrator during Wednesday’s march against increased tuition fees. The protester shuts his eyes as someone behind him shields their face with their hands. One witness was quoted on Indymedia as saying: ‘I saw the shocking sight of a police medic putting his arm through the officers in front of him and spraying a BCF halon fire extinguisher at the faces of some of the protesters caught at the front of the crowd.’Halon extinguishers contain toxic elements such as bromine and fluorine, and have been linked to breathing difficulties, skin and eye irritation, dizziness and even unconsciousness.Metropolitan Police denied using the extinguishers for crowd control and said halon devices were chiefly deployed to put out fires on people.

I agree with what theyre doing but students when they open their mouth are so flipping annoying.
Most ridiculous generalisation I've ever heard. So many different types of people are university students.
I know bruv. I work at uni. Its a big generalisation but it aint that ridiculous.

Laborers are not the same as plumbers, sparkies etc, these are skilled tradesmen. Laborers never really get more than £60 a day.
Yeah I know but he said you either need a degree or you become a labourer so I assumed he meant any manual job.We should be more like Germany imo, more respect for engineers and mechanics and skilled manual jobs. Those guys get it in and have a much higher status auf Deutschland. They've got a lot of pride in producing things like cars and aeroplanes.

C/SThey're focussing way too hard on academia, something which not everyone is built forThere needs to be more options for young people in school, this is why a lot of them actually go to uni, cuz they have no f*ck*ng clue what else they're supposed to doThey need to bring back apprenticeships, and teach more vocational classes in schools

People who lack academic skills could be skilled in other areas, they're not able to realise this though because the overwhelming focus is on learning facts, remembering facts, then writing down as many of those facts as possible in the space of an hour or w/eIt's not for everyone, certainly not for me

uni is not about remembering facts and regurgitating them, in gcse and a-level u can just waffle about what u know and get high grades. To stand out in uni u need to be able critically analyze and show thought on evidence and theories etc in as few words and as clearly possible (basically cutting out any irrelevant sentences/information and avoid trying to use too many big words that make u 'seem clever') and where possible show evidence of independent research.
