Al Jazeera want to sign Keys and Gray

Super-rich Arab TV station Al Jazeera want to snap up Richard Keys and Andy Gray - after the pair were axed by Sky.

Keys is due in Qatar today for talks about a lucrative contract and if he takes up their top post he would bring long-term friend and sidekick Gray with him.

Both Keys and Gray are ‘faces’ in the TV world and the Arabs are not concerned about the fall-out from the sexist comments that cost them their Sky posts.

It would be a massive coup for the station to land two of football’s leading presenters in a double act - they currently use several English frontmen, including Gary Lineker, for their shows.

Al Jazeera are expanding their sports coverage and have just done a deal to broadcast the World Cup in the Middle East and Africa for the next three tournaments.

The move would mean that both Keys and Gray would spend extended periods in Qatar but there is also scope for them to do programmes from the station’s London base.

There are few other stations in the market for the pair and the cash on offer in the Middle East could make up for the loss of their seven-figure Sky salaries.

came across this comment on youtube

my career all started when i was so principled that i went to work for a pornographer, who put me in charge of a crap football club just to get some cheap publicity. one of the first things i did was to be photographed in a blues kit sitting on a big black footballer's shoulders. so much for feminism.

does anybody know who 'said' footballer is?

Little bird has told me there'll be an exposure involving Gray in the NOTW tomorrow...

cant get on the notw site anymore but

SEE if you can join the dots. Andy Gray is sacked from Sky Sports for making sexist comments. Andy Gray is suing Sky’s sister News Corp organ the News of The World for allegedly hacking his mobile phone’s voicemail. Andy Gray is suing Sky for alleged unfair dismissal. And today Andy Gray is the subject of a story:

“Foul-mouthed Gray strikes again – Sleazy star humiliated teen with explicit sex questions.”

Beneath a photo of Gray with his arms around two women, we get to meet “pretty Kirsty Woolley“. She’s the smiling woman to his left:

SACKED Sky soccer sexist Andy Gray publicly humiliated a 17-year-old girl with a series of crude questions about her sex life.

Even knowing that pretty Kirsty Woolley’s dad was just feet away didn’t stop the foul-mouthed TV pundit leering and demanding: “Are you a dirty b**ch?“

It was three years ago and Gray was at an Aston Villa do.

Surrounded by guests at a gala dinner, Kirsty was too embarrassed to speak. Then Gray followed up by asking her a personal question too vile for us to repeat.

Is anything too vile? Thanks to the sexist and sweary BBC, we’re getting used to taboos being broken:

And the sleazy star added: “Are you one of those girls who wants to make love or do you just f***?”

Then:

The sickening encounter only ended when Gray, now engaged to best pal’s wife Rachel Lewis, was bundled into a taxi after trying to lure Kirsty back to his hotel.

Sickening. Best pals’ wife. Bundled. Lure. All that and no right of reply for Gray, who not afforded the time and space on Sky TV to apologise for his sexist comments.

Now…

Kirsty bravely breaks a three-year silence on her own horrifying ordeal.

Bravely? Horrifying?

“…Gray was an arrogant sexist bully and the truth deserves to come out.”

Agreed. But what is the truth?

Really some of it was too vile to print? Since when would that stop a newspaper from printing information. Exposed people's sex life etc but a few comments isn't allowed.

She only decides to come out now after 3 years and conveniently after he got the sack?

It could all be true but goodness me.

Disgraced former Sky Sports presenters Richard Keys and Andy Gray have been signed up by TalkSport to present a flagship daytime show on the talk radio station.

TalkSport moved in for the pair just two weeks after they were engulfed in a sexism storm which began after they made disparaging comments about a female football official off air that were leaked to the Mail on Sunday.

Gray was sacked by Sky Sports after new evidence of "unacceptable and offensive behaviour" came to light. Keys later resigned after giving an ill-advised radio interview about the incident, coincidentally on TalkSport.

The pair will present a three-hour weekday show between 10am and 1pm, beginning on Monday next week.

Keys said it was the "start of something new and very exciting for Andy and myself". He added: "We are delighted to be joining the TalkSport family and can't wait to get started."

The TalkSport programme director, Moz Dee, described the signing as a "sensational coup" for the station.

"The events of the last couple of weeks have been a lesson and has changed them," said Dee.

"One thing that hasn't changed however is that they are two iconic broadcasters who have a wealth of experience in the world of sport and that's what we have to do now – move forward with them as sports broadcasters.

"I think it's a sensational coup for TalkSport and great for radio. These men have carved out amazing careers in television and were at the forefront of the Sky revolution. I think they are going to have a massive impact on the radio scene."

Dee has known both Gray and Keys for some time, working with the former on the original incarnation of TalkSport, Talk Radio's coverage of the 1998 football World Cup. He later worked with Gray at BBC Radio 5 Live and its coverage of the 2002 World Cup.

Gray said: "I can't tell you how excited I am to be joining TalkSport. It's a wonderful opportunity for Richard and I to do what we do best and that's talk about sport."

Keys and Gray were the long serving faces of Sky Sports' Premier League coverage until the sexism row that engulfed both them and the broadcaster after they were recorded suggesting that female officials "don't know the offside rule".

Further clips emerged showing Gray exchanging sexist comments with a Sky Sports touchline reporter before the match and to a female Sky Sports presenter.

Another clip emerged of Keys discussing a former girlfriend of Sky pundit Jamie Redknapp.

TalkSport broadcasts 64 live Premier League games a year and celebrated record audience figures of more than 3 million in the final three months of last year.
