The Non-Executive of Aston Villa General Krulak adresses villa fans on villa talk.

General Krulak here: As everyone can see, I have kept a low profile over the past week...because there are times when it is just best to let things play out. A week or so ago some Fans and the Press were going crazy over what was going to happen re. GH. At that time I tried to make it clear that The Club was NOT going to conduct business in the media....that it wasn't fair to GH nor was it fair to the Club. We all acted in a professional manner and business was taken care of. Now we have the old complaint of "dithering"...as if choosing and obtaining a Manager was a simple as going to M&S and ordering up a Balti Pie. I am not sure where our "expert Fans" get their information on how to go about picking a Manager in a week...but I would sure like to know. A great many things go into the equation....advice from people in the "business", discussions with agents and people with access, research on everything from record of success (history) to connectivity with the players in the dressing room to effective use of personnel to compatability with Owner and people at the Club, to many, many, other things. To some fans it seems like just a simple act....and more importantly, a "signal" about something called "ambition." As if one Manager sends a bigger "ambition" signal than another....forget about whether that Manager "fits" with the Club. I have said it once and I will say it again...we will NOT conduct business in the media...we will NOT react to the nonsense that is printed in the media...and we will NOT seek a Manager who simply gets a thumbs-up from the Fans. We will get the very best man for the job...in our opinion and in the opinion of those who assist in the decision process. Once we get our man, we will give him all the support he needs. Randy has NEVER failed to support his Manager. I know it is a waste of my time to ask for patience and calmness over the next week or two...BUT, be patient...it will get done.

Phil Jones transfer to Man Utd confirmed by his agentDefender to be unveiled in the next 48 hoursPaul Smith, the chief football reporter for the Sunday Mirror, has intimated that the agent of Phil Jones has confirmed his client’s transfer to Manchester United. In a text received by Smith, the defender’s agent disclosed the following information: “I expect the deal to be formally announced in the next 48 hours. The buy-out clause put in by BRFC cannot be challengedHe added the player was given permission by BRFC to speak to four clubs who met the buy-out clause and he opted for MUFC. It would make no difference to the player if LFC offered more money at this stage. He has joined United in the best interest of his career. However, an article by Sporting Intelligence claims that Manchester United have indeed increased their offer to £20.5m even though the buy-out clause was correctly reported at £16.5m. Why would United agree to pay £4m more than they were obliged to? According to the article it was done to make the transfer happen as soon as possible and to avoid going down an acrimonious path. “A crucial fact that muddied the waters is United appeared to know precise details about the terms of the release before Rovers had given any club permission to speak to the player. The only way United could have known this is if Rovers had told them – and sources insist they didn’t – or if somebody else told them when they shouldn’t have done so under the letter of the transfer laws. This fact, as well as Liverpool’s offer of £22m, gave Rovers some traction in negotiations. Well-placed senior sources in India have made it clear that a tapping-up complaint against Manchester United was an option open to them. If Manchester United felt they were on solid ground with their £16.5m deal and no more, that’s what they’d be paying. But they’re not paying that. That’s why the deal has been agreed at £20.5m. They are paying more to make the deal happen now.”As always, one has to take these assertion by people “in the know” with a pinch of salt. If Jones becomes as good as several people have said he can, he might well be worth the extra £4m. Do I believe United paid £4m more than they had to?Why not? It seems unlikely, but if they are certain of his ability as well as potential it only makes sense to conclude the business as soon as possible and avoid any clubs from hijacking the deal. On the other hand, the player had already agreed terms with the club. Even if Blackburn had lodged a complaint, the deal would have to go through by the letter of the law. This deal has cast Blackburn’s hierarchy in a bad light and will only make Blackburn’s future targets very wary of signing with a club that conducts itself in such a manner and does not adhere to the terms & conditions it had agreed to. On Man Utd’s part, it looks like the club has a definitive plan and are dead certain about the players who must be acquired in order to continue winning trophies and that is very pleasing.

They are saying the buy out clause can't be challenged, but people are pointing out the same thing happened with ziege when Liverpool purchased him from Middlesbrough. Which led to court cases and then the matter being settled with payments outside of court.Venky are a mess though. No chairman/director etc. Business in England call centre in India type sh*t.

The Venkys are well within their rights to do what they're doing, lol at people trying to put spin on it to try and cast them in a negative light.Man Utd approached him illegally and conducted a medical without agreeing a fee with Blackburn, its basically the Berbatov situation all over again.

Over the past few years I've seen some journalists kick up a massive fuss over some managers allegedly making illegal approaches yet when Ferguson actually kidnapped Berbatov it was laughed and joked about and with Jones they're trying to make the Blackburn owners look like idiots.

I told people days ago what happen.Sam made the call to Fergie, John Williams fed the deets on Jones' contract.
lool phil jones agent more like
The only reason why I don't believe it was the agent is because it sounds like Liverpool didnt know about the release clause.

lol I'm not salty about this transfer but you know I'll never pass up a chance to reinforce my opinion that he gets away with murder./We didn't know about the release clause which is why Blackburn are now saying to Man Utd how did you know about it and they can't answer without dropping themselves in the sh*t.
