Rsonist
Harry Redknapp has told Robbie Keane he could still have a future at Tottenham. The 30-year-old striker was down the pecking order at Spurs last term before spending the end of the campaign on loan at West Ham.The Republic of Ireland's record goalscorer has been linked with a summer switch with his chances of seeing regular first-team football at White Hart Lane looking increasingly unlikely. But any serious offers are yet to come in so Redknapp has challenged the former Liverpool and Leeds forward to fight for a place next term."I've said many times that Robbie's a great professional, a great character and a great lad," he told Sky Sports News."He's still a good player so let's see what happens."If he doesn't go he'll be here and start on level terms with the rest of the players so it's up to him then to get in the team."If somebody wants to buy him and he feels he wants to move on then it's great for everybody but we'll wait and see."

LS
Nikky Vuksan has revealed that his client, much sought-after Tottenham playmaker Luka Modric, has no designs on leaving White Hart Lane. Though the 25 year-old has been the subject of intense media speculation regarding a potential move to Chelsea over the past months, it now seems as if the allegations will quieten down considerably. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has been vociferously adamant throughout recent weeks that one of his club's prize assets is not up for sale and released an official statement warning Chelsea "or any other club" away. Speaking to BBC Sport, Vuksan's sentiments seemed to be in tune with those of Levy, though he did imply that Mordic would not hang around for too long without winning silverware. "I don't think he'll hand in a transfer request," he said. "He will honour his contract." "He does want to play in the Champions League and win trophies, though, so we may have to sit down and resolve the issue." "Luka will report for training today and will do his best as he always does." "I have never been in a situation before where a player has had to fight a club and it's not something we want to do," he went on. "The only official offer so far is from Chelsea and we haven't talked to any clubs." "It's no surprise that there is interest in Luka though, because he is a top, top player." According to a report on the BBC website, Modric had a meeting with Levy yesterday, where he explained that he would rather stay put than move to another Premiership side. "That's the end of it," Levy said typically abrasively following his summit with the player. "As I said a few weeks ago there's no further discussion. He was on holiday so we've now had the conversation and he understands our position." Modric joined Tottenham in 2008 following a £16.6 million deal with Dinamo Zagreb. Upon signing a six-year contract with the club in 2010, Harry Redknapp called the Croatian "irreplaceable." If the agent is saying this, surely this means it looks like he's staying?!

Rsonist
Asked what he would do if Spurs refuse to let him leave, Modric was quoted as telling Sportske Novosti: "I haven't thought about it at all because [not letting me go] would definitely not be good for anyone. I have already told the chairman that last summer he said we would find a mutually satisfactory agreement if a club like Chelsea came in."I hope that eventually he will understand the situation and that we will reach an agreement and go our separate ways in an appropriate manner."Elaborating on his meeting with Levy, Modric revealed the Spurs chairman was happy to let the midfielder spend the season rotting in the reserves if he did not honour his long-term contract."A lot has been published in the press about the meeting with Levy, who gave the public a twisted account of what happened."I must say that I am genuinely disappointed about what Levy said to me. He didn't care about what I was telling him. It all only convinced me further that I was right to consider moving on to another club."I reminded the chairman of our gentleman's agreement when we were in Dubrovnik last summer and I agreed a contract extension with Tottenham. Then I had an open chat with Levy that if a bigger club came in with a concrete offer, we would consider it and agree the best solution for all concerned."The chairman said, 'Okay, we'll sit and talk [about any offers]'. Now Levy doesn't want to talk to me and said there is no possibility that I can leave Spurs."He threatened me - he said if I didn't accept the club's stance, they would make me sit on the bench or in the stands."Modric also cemented his desire to play for new Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas, revealing his mind is already at Stamford Bridge, not Tottenham."There is no doubt that Chelsea want me - they sent a concrete offer to Tottenham. I know that the new Chelsea boss said he wants me in his team. Of course I am flattered by this interest in me - it's a club that all players dream of joining, fighting for every competition available."It wasn't a snap decision - I talked a long time with my family and people whose opinions I respect. I thought about it, weighed it all up, and finally decided this was the best option." Levy will actually let him rot as well, just to make a statement/prove a point. LS
Levy knows Luka is not really built for this. If it was someone like Berbatov i would say let him go but put him on the bench for a month and we'll see if he starts playing football. I rather we sell him in January to make a point
Rsonist
Although I think Levy is too proud a man to ever get mugged off by another footballer. I actually tend to believe him when he says he'll let Modric rot, probably while making plans to sell him to anyone apart from Chelsea.Tbqh if he does go I'll not be too devastated, I think Tottenham will be able to adapt without him. Without underestimating his importance to the team - his role in the team is to recycle possession intelligently, not directly contribute to goalscoring opportunities. Regardless of the amount of people hailing his ability to do so, Modric doesn't pick locks. He puts other people in the position to pick locks.Luckily for us, we have attacking players good enough to create whether Modric is behind them or not. As long as we sign a quality striker(s) who can finish the myriad chances designed by Bale/Lennon/VDV etc. last season, I think we'll get by with any footballer (Huddlestone) who helps the team keep possession even half as well as Modric does. Rsonist
Tottenham do not have an agreement to allow Luka Modric to leave for another club, according to Sky Sports News. The Croatia star admitted earlier this summer his desire to leave White Hart Lane after finding himself the subject of a failed £22million bid from Premier League runners-up Chelsea.Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy consequently held discussions with Modric on Thursday, when the latter was told that he would not be sold regardless of the price or the club making the offer.Modric has since claimed that Levy's stance reneges on a gentleman's agreement that was struck when he signed a six-year contract extension on 30th May 2010.The 25-year-old, who has proved more than value for the £16.6million Tottenham paid to Dynamo Zagreb in 2008, insists that the agreement would allow him to leave if a major club made a bid.Modric told Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti over the weekend: "I reminded the chairman of our gentleman's agreement when we were in Dubrovnik last summer and I agreed a contract extension with Tottenham."At that time, I had an open chat with Levy - that if a bigger club came in with a concrete offer, we would consider it and agree the best solution for all concerned."Now Levy doesn't want to talk to me and said there is no possibility that I can leave Spurs. He threatened me - he said if I didn't accept the club's stance, they would make me sit on the bench or in the stands."But Spurs officials are continuing to dig in their heels regarding their playmaker and are adamant that no such understanding is, or was, in place. It seems probable that Chelsea will make an improved offer for Modric, as new manager Andre Villas-Boas bids to add some creativity to his midfield while also decreasing the average age of his squad.Modric is understood to want to join a club who will be playing in the UEFA Champions League next season, and Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has implied that the player's head has been turned by the attention.Premier League champions Manchester United have also been linked with an interest, with Sir Alex Ferguson searching for a replacement for the now-retired Paul Scholes. Rsonist
We are delighted to announce the signing of Cristian Ceballos.Ceballos, 18, spent almost seven years with Barcelona after joining them when he was 11 and can operate as an attacking midfielder or a forward.Technical co-ordinator Tim Sherwood said: "Cristian trained hard and showed some real quality when he originally spent time here towards the end of last season and was even involved in some of the First Team training."There was other interest in him too. He needs to be patient and if he can fulfil his potential we believe he can play at the top level."Another young career ruined.

Rsonist
Krancjar won't miss pal LukaKranjcar: Waiting on Modric decisionThe Croatian midfielders seem to be at opposite ends of their White Hart Lane careers: Krancjar wants a starting role, while Modric just wants to leave the club. With only two Premier League starts for Spurs last term, Krancjar believes if his compatriot gets his wish - and Spurs give in to an improved Blues offer - he won't need to look elsewhere for regular game-time."I'm quite calm about the situation at the moment but of course it will be nice to see how things will end," the 26-year-old told Sportske Novosti."This summer's transfer window will be one of the most interesting moments in my career."But one thing is certain, if Tottenham sell Luka Modric, I will stay. However, if Luka stays, I will probably be loaned out somewhere." Niko>
