what is heroes origins?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heroes:_OriginsHeroes: Origins is a proposed American science fiction drama, a spin-off of NBC's hit show Heroes. News reports on October 31, 2007 indicated that NBC has put the project on hold due to the WGA strike.[3]Project premiseHeroes: Origins was to introduce one new character per episode, and viewers would choose which character would join the main cast at the end of the run. The second season of Heroes and the first season of Heroes: Origins would have included a total of 30 episodes.[4][5]It would have started at the end of April and run all the way into May, as announced at the 2007 Comic-Con International. The reason given for the spin-off was to remove the mid-season hiatus, which caused the ratings to falter when Heroes returned in Season 1.[5] NBC's chief, Kevin Reilly, told reporters on May 14, 2007, "We've got something I call the 'bulk-up challenge' for next year, which is trying to stay more consistent in our scheduling for the audience. We asked [Heroes creator] Tim Kring to come up with an idea, and what I love is not only did we bulk up with 30 hours next season, but also a whole new idea which I think is going to take the show to the next level." While not all scheduling details have been hashed out, Reilly says, "I'll tell you one thing you won't see is Origins peppered throughout, I think that would be difficult for the audience to navigate."[6]At the 2007 Comic-Con, it was announced that Kevin Smith would write and direct an episode for the spin-off, as he was already a fan of Heroes.[7] On September 22, it was announced that Eli Roth and Michael Dougherty would also each be writing an episode of the spin-off.[2] Tim Kring revealed in the Heroes Live Blog on September 24 that he himself will write the first episode of Origins and that John August has been hired for the spin-off as well. He also said that some well known directors can be expected.[8][edit] Production postponementOn October 31, 2007, reports in Variety and The Hollywood Reporter indicated that Origins had been postponed. This decision was caused due to a strike by the Writers Guild of America[9][10][11]. The show may be revisited, according to TV Guide, if the dispute with the Writer's Guild is resolved quickly.[12] On November 3, 2007, Tim Kring stated on G4 tv's Heroes Post Show that Heroes: Origins is postponed due to the strike by the Writer's Guild. [citation needed][edit] UK broadcastBBC2 controller Roly Keating confirmed that the spinoff would air on that channel in the United Kingdom. He also said "In America there's an interactive element, and we'd like to do that here, but I don't know if time will be on our side."
