well the way you said it, to generalise that all black people go raving whilst all white people go clubbin...sounded like you dont know white people who go to the same "raves" u do. and wen u said white ppl go raving to trance music (as if thats the only music white ppl "rave" too), it sounded like you have never been to a "white rave" and was jus assumin...but ok, i cant judge on what things sound like...out of interest have you ever been to fabriclive, DMZ, or FWD or any of them things?

Very interesting topic.*gives spiderman a pat on the back*
safe biggrin.gif its been on my mind for a wile now still, the term "rave" to me is more so used as slang now rather than what it originally ment. i tend not to take it seriously from those who dont know about the origins of rave, and rave culture.original jungalist.ttkk :D

im sorry, i jus thought it was obvious that i was generalisingits less what it is, more what people refer to them too, your query is to do with, exactly the definition of each wordsand no i ain
basically ur sayin black ppl use the word rave more for goin out to a nightclub (in general)whilst white ppl refer to it as clubbin.this kinda describes the point i was makin, bout how its jus a term of slang now.but like wen ppl say "ye im a raver" wen there usin this slang definition, its jus false, cos dats part of the culture thing, and wid the slang one der is no rave culture. thats my opinion anyways.see you havent seen them modern versions of wots as close to the original raves as you can get, so thats y your definition dont include any that and any of them links to the original meaning, just the origins of the slang term.

A msg from beyond lol.

CaoS says:from having been to both clubs and raves, my oppinion is that clubs are more a relaxing slower paced social gathering that brings people together in groups. i would often walk around a club and talk to chicks here n there yet never talk to any other person i ddnt know apart from friends or anyone i knew personaly etc...raving is more of a community based "porject" so to speak. the music varies in my preferences jungle/drum & bass n some others hardstyle/hardcore etc...as opposed to being alcohol orientated its very much more focused on drug use to keep bodies withstanding the pace of the rave from the hours of it starting untill it finishes...its a much more in depth style of expression with music and not so much social based tho with the atmosphere being alot softer in a rave minus the dancefloor mayhem people could talk to one another like family. sometimes its drug related bullshit talk but regardless it helps people enjoy the night more as one mahoosive group rather than many small seperate ones.the people that attend raves regardless of race go for the music and for the atmosphere, but the people that go to clubs tend to go for a "chillout sesh" or to "draw gash" rather than anything else. tho serious talk aside i prefer the ladies in raves than i do in clubs but thats from my oppinion on what i look for in a chick. peace o cake

That is so wrong. To me i when I go to a rave it is normally a event. It is to music like drum & bass or trance or hard dance or hard house or something like that. When I go clubbing I say im going raving as you said it is a young persons slang.Like I say im going to a rave which is actually like a event or something.Or im going raving were im going to have a bogey in a club.

Yeah people got it twisted. The atmosphere is completely different in a rave to a club. Clubs are generally "nice" and "pretty" places, raves are anywhere and usually niche type events as opposed to commercial.Clubs = CommercialRaves = NicheWhite people most prob go to more raves than Black people, LOL @ Black people go raving and White's go clubbing, but as you said it was just your opinion. I think it got confused 'cause the olders used to always say they were going raving when going Telepathy and them places, La Costa Nostra and we interpreted it as going out and dancing to music, so we thought that it was the same as clubbing. Plus raving sounds cooler. Some chick annoys me by saying she's going raving and she's going Liquid Sutton or Oceana

People on my side of London refer to any sort of clubbing as raving, and that has nothing to do with race.Even white people say it.The only difference being when people mention they're going to a drink up (which more time turns into a rave) or a party (where they dress up but it stills end up being a rave)Rave = Lights off, large space, music, drink and women.

Not being funnyBut since so many of you are saying "yea bare people got it twisted" "yea people say they're go raving but they're going clubbing"Has you not thought that maybe you've got it twistedYou cant really argue against the majority when it comes to a definition of a word, surely..
