Lauryn HIll was nowhere near the lyricism of Bahamadia or Jean Grae. Her, Lil' Kim, Foxy, and most other female rappers only have their delivery and a few punchlines here and there. When it comes to pure barrage, Jean Grae is easily better than most female rappers, and a lot of male rappers. And like Cipher said, you can easily listen to her without thinking she is a female.

This is what's wrong with people like you...You keep thinking sheer lyricism makes you a better rapper when it's a melange of things i.e. delivery, presence, candence, lyrics etc...Again, Lauryn Hill>>>>>>>>>>It's not even close TBH...

Jean Grae has delivery, cadence, presence and lyrics. Put her on a track next to Lauryn Hill and she wil eat her. Bruh, you are one of these guys that accepts songs like Laffy Taffy and Crank That so I can see why lyricism is not that important to you. And fact of the matter, is Lauryn Hill had delivery and presence, but lyrics wise, she was like the majority of female rappers, just not cutting it on the same levels of mandem. Jean Grae makes certain guys look like they need to go back and write their rhymes 5 times over.

What are you talking about?Tell me female rappers that actually can hit up a track like male rappers, and when I say that you know I'm talking about decent guys, not some Soulja Boy wastemans.

Oh yeah, and let me just add.The topic is about what rappers you rate? Whilst it's open to interpretation, I'm under the assumption most people are talking about just rapping, not how good a rap artist they are, which Jean Grae obviously loses out to the other commercially known females. But for raw ability, let's be real. Lauryn is not seeing Jean Grae.

Deaded Mike Kane right chea...Co sign everything Titan has saidHill isn't SEEING Grae not lyrically Lauryn has just better appeal and a better musical persona.Had Fuuges not been such a mainstream hit this argument wouldnt have taken place.

in some respects,it can come down to a question a bit like talib or mos def, and i will always say mos, where he may not be as lyrical as talib, he is a better artist on the whole.i think hill is a better 'artist' but on the lyrical level she just gets pipped on it.but who ever sold records being the greatest lyricist ever? its about a package.

Exactly my point. This is about who you rate as a rapper, not an artist. If lyricism sold as well as cheese, a lot of underground guys would be caking. But unfortunately it doesn't, so certain people sit on the shelf.I do think The Fugees success had a lot to do ith Lauryn's success, as the breakaway from teh group made people pay attention to see if she could cut it. She is sick as a an artist, but better than Jean Grae, that's some mad man talk.

i see both views..but tbh sayin lauryn would get eaten by jean grae is kinda off the mark.If anything lauryn was more lyricist than rapper. If she took it full time we wud not be having this discussion...either way it is unfair to put lauryn in the femcee category due to the fact that all the other ones mentioned were fulltime rappers ridin with greezy rappers majority of the time and droppin full length rap albums...my top 2 remains thoughLaurynJeanthe only 2 femcees who ddnt need to use sexuality to get me interested
