Just started going gym again Sunday just gone...Me and 3 more of my co-d's been goin'...Now, bear in mind, I haven't gone gym in a WHILE and even when I did, I never went regularly. I get on some of the weights and I can't lift as much as some of my other bredrins and I swear they made me feel rubbish about it, lol...Basically, for a guy my size (6'1'', 13 stone), I should be able to lift my own weight and if I can't, it means my natural upper bopdy strength needs SERIOUS work which I think is true considering I can barely do any pull-ups. This don't mean I'm a fat bastard or anything, but I do have a lot of lower body mass and my arms are quite long so I would say that is the cause...I just need some advice really for building my strength up because at the moment, even lifting 30-40KG with the bench press is a bit of trouble...Should I start off steady? Should I go REAL heavy but do negatives instead of normal bench press?Should I have a particular diet?Bear in mind, I play football, so size isn't what I'm looking for? That Cristiano Ronaldo build is the aim here. I have a similar frame, just need to gain some more muscle, strength and definition...

Basically. If u keep it up, and have a regular routine, eat right get get some good sleep. 100% u will start to see results. To increase strength try to do low reps with high weights, dont over do it incase you injure yourself, but if your consistant your strength should increase.

You don't need to go gym to get that physique.Just continue to use your own body weight as resistance. Do push ups and pull ups and dips. look online and you can find all the different variations to work different parts of the arms, shoulders, chest and back.Lifting weights will make you bulkier than you probably need to be.

:D what position are u in ball? if ur a centreback u need to be pushing about 13.5 stone if ur black, being cr7s build aint gonna do you no good there. bare in mind hes 13 stone as well.u just need to build starting strength. moderate to heavy squats. concentrate on doing them quickly for exsplosive power. do all the big upper body exercises. bench press, shoulder press, pullups, rows and dips. u should be fine in no time. i reckon u have a lot more fat than u think or very little upper body mass. 40kg should not be a problem 4 someone ur size

I'm a midfielder primarily but I've never had a problem with strength ON the pitch.I am quite worried about bulking up TOO much though. Not to sure about my fat because last time I was checked out, my body fat to water level or whatever it is, was just right according to the personal trainer I had at the time but then again, that was more or less a year ago, lol. I think you might have a point with little upper body mass, like I said before, I think alot of my muscle comes from my legs.

train like a sprinter. people who get useless bulk are bodybuilders.1. because alot dont stretch and lose mobility2. because movements are done slowly, slow movements dont help ur fast twitch muscle fibres. (the ones that make u sprint fast)for example on the bench. make sure u bring the bar down slowly to ur chest. but explode upwards on the up portion of the lift as fast as u can. if u apply this to all your exercises and keep up ur football training as well, u should be quicker, stronger, fitter and it will all be functional on the pitch.people seem to think big weights automatically means big unfunctional muscles. look at guys like dwain chambers and maurice greene their benches will be way in the hundreds but they dont train the same way as conventional bodybuilders. the focus is on speed and power

Lol reminds me of when I was in the gym near the start and I saw guys skinnier than me doing barbell curls at a higher weight. f*cked me right off.I hate the fact that I have nobody to go gym with. Can't push myself coz I don't wanna drop a bar on my chest and I'm not patient enough to wait for the machines.

if your doing it for footballthen your main focus should be your back footballers backs are massiveobviously so are legs and calves compared to there chest, arms and shouldersas someone said you need to work on explosive power and not just bulk up to fit a T a certain way.

i started at a "proper gym" bout a year agodepends on how u get in and who ur trainer ismy trainer asked me 2 come along and said he'd train me for freeso when i began i was training with the guys who'd been boxing for a couple years+ as well as beginners/kids sometimesits hard for the first couple months true, cause if ur trainer is a goon he'll put u in the ring after ur first week and just tell u try ur besthell tell the guys ur sparring 2 hit u and u just need 2 try 2 survive 3 rounds / throw a couple blows if u cani had nuff bruises all over my shoulders and arms after my 2nd week. i also f*cked up my wrist.....aftter 2/3 months u really start to see ur body change as well as ur strength and fitness. from when i got there i had a strong puch + alot of power so i progressed quickly. now the guys who beat me down when i was new who are all like 30+ are getting paxed up and running away from me in the ring. but i went 3 days a week every week and didn't miss a single session for about 7 months straight.boxing is about how much work u put in and u need 2 perfect ur technique. if u done 2 yrs when u were young u should go back into it cause ull already know the basics and be able to progess fast + get the most out of ur training.

U wanna put on muscle, even if it aint a lot but ur burning BARE calories, ur gonna have to eat a lot! and when i say a lot i don't mean a skinny guy's version of a lot i mean A LOT! Do a bit less cardio and more weights, and if after a while u think ur losing definition increase the cardio again.

when we spar we only do body shots if its serious then we put on the headgear and do it properlyi've had a broken nose once and had my nose bust open about 5/6 times. but the break isn't very noticeable.not been knocked out, got black eye a couple times but that was when someone hit me accidentally or 1 time when i was new my stance was wrong and I tried 2 block a punch with my hand, which was pushed backwards and hit me in the eye..if u dont want 2 fight u dont have to anyway. in training its all body shots / conditioning. no1 will ever force u 2 fight or cuss u if u dont want 2.
