Guest LOGers
TBH from a business point of view credit cards are good.Titan do you have a contract phone?Seriously, you say that you are good with money. If you get a credit card and use it all this last year of uni just for eg food shopping, or other small misc purchases and pay it off at the end of the month (remember that these are purchases you would have made regardless of whether you had the card or not) you are doing yourself such a favour for the future.Eg. I use one card for food shopping. Whenever I do a grocery shop, I use that card.I spend roughly £70 a month on food.I have a standing order to pay it off every month. I'm still doing what I'd normally do.My other credit card is my shopping card. Say I see some boots that I want to buy for a bill. I have that 1 bill in my bank account but I will make a conscious decision to put it on my card.Next week I'll go into the bank and pay that 1 bill off. If you can trust yourself to use it properly, you're helping yourself in the long run.
Em Dott
I don't have a contract phone. I'm an old fashion guy. I like paying off one time and not worrying about it biting me later. Also, I don't like paying more than what somehting is valued at, and that becomes a possiblity if drastic situations of a greater importance pop up and require the money you needed for that credit card bill (and these drastic situations have popped up very recently at the worst of times for me). Like I said, I don't need an extra headache because rent and bills is problematic enough. I don't need debt on top of it.
Guest LOGers
Remember that CC's are essentially a small loan. If you demonstrate to creditors that you can handle small loans, they are more likely to give you a bigger one.You have to use credit to be able to get it. Even if you are really good with money, if you don't have any form of credit history, how are you going to be able to get a mortgage?Do you see what I'm getting at? But like I said, situations seem to pop up too randomly for me to risk getting one. Also, as for a mortgage, isn't it based on what the mortgage lender believes you can handle? I mean, they look at your income and statements to see how likely it is you will be able to maintain the payments on the house?

Guest LOGers
I just read your post. I get what you're saying.TBH I have no issue with buying anything on credit except brand new cars, as long as people can afford it.You know your financial status so you know why its not good for you.I was just explaining the benefits because some people grow up being taught that credit cards are evil, when that's not neccessarily true. They are the one's that you see in the papers saying 'I owe £49,000 on credit cards'Well of course you do you dumbf*ck!
