he didnt get dropped, logans words still...
Kano hasn't been dropped.679 was sold. Everyone's contracts were being renegotiated. As it stands, the option on Kano's 3rd album wasn't to the liking of his management, and they are currently looking elsewhere. They are speaking to 2 other labels at the moment, and told me to expect some sort of announcement in the next 3-6months.He has a project he wants to do before he enters into a new agreement with a label.

He's bringing out a grime mixtape later this year

Was a bit shocked to find out Kano has a mixtape entitled "MC No. 1" dropping next week. Seeing as I found out it existed from the Uptown Records website for preorders, and had seen no press, received no tracks or heard so much as a sniff of info about it, despite being in contact with his management, I was baffled. I saw it on Uptown's shop on April 1st, so naturally assumed perhaps it was an elaborate April Fool's?So I made a phone call.Kano does have a mixtape dropping, but the reason we haven't heard anything about it is because it isn't for us. It is more of an audio scrapbook of freestyles he has done recently along with a couple of snippets of forthcoming bits. You may have heard the freestyle Westwood has been playing of Kano on Dizzee's 'Old School' beat. That is on this new CD. Most of it is made up of freestyles on popular Hip Hop beats. You will be able to catch Kano making a number of radio appearances over this weekend, but I am told he will be mainly focussing on his next project..... entitled "140 Grime Street". In regards to that project I know that Kano has been personally in touch with Skepta, Davinche and working closely with Mikey J on production. And I have personally been making sure they receive beats from Maniac and Rapid as well for consideration. If you are a Kano fan and enjoy his music in general, then "MC No. 1" is out on Monday exclusively from Uptown Records. You will be able to hear him on Westwood this Saturday talking about leaving 679, his new label, this mixtape and the 140 Grime Street project.
