If you mean a physical cd he puts out in stores ect, there is no benefits for him to fo so being a truley independent artist. Like you said it wouldnt sell great units so thats money out of his own pocket on pressing/promo/distribution.
Where as he can push a physical copy in limited numbers based on a gimmick and get grossly over paid for doing so while keep his loyal fans happy with online releases for a minimal overhead.
