Been doing weights since 18th December with some swag dumbells I've had for years from Argos, nothign too strenuous but been seeing some nice results already. Can see the definition in my arms and chest.Gonna keep it going for the next 6 weeks or so and see where I am then.I'm so pigeon-chested, I need to add some definition for my chest, look like a right fat c*nt in some stuff I wear and theres barely anything on me anymore.

increasing definition won't get rid of ur pigeon chest u need to build the muscle up, at least 3 months, hardcore training and eating, low sets with heavy wieghts and baaare protein. take photos now and after so u got motivation to continue.

You need to build a foundation first though... Condition your muscles. So start with low weights and high reps for the first month. Otherwise you'll be prone to injury.

i think this is one of the biggest misconceptions in gymu need to use heavy weights when u start. stuff u can lift for 5 or 6 reps max. that way u are forced to learn correct form or u will get hurt AND when u first start lifting u dont have enough strength for high reps to do anything to you.a new guy in the gym is much better off doing 3x5 at 55kg on the bench press than something like 3x12 at 35kg. I say practice form with just the bar and then transfer it to heavy weightsall the best newbie programs like rippetoe and bill starrs 5x5 all involve heavy weights to give you that base strength to build from

Shouldn't you do dumbbell exercises to correct it?
