When a job comes up its advertised internally first.

Through word of mouth and contacts we usually decide who we want.

LEGALLY we have to advertise and hold interviews, EVEN though we know we're gonna give the jobs to X,Y or Z

Its like that at every company.

this. public and private sector.

its all about bring ins. just dont underestimate the little people and what they can do for you*

*not the midgets - the people who do low level work at your company eg cleaners/janitor etc

It's peak for most, in my last job we would see an interviewee arrive and make gestures to our boss on whether he should consider them based on appearance.

We even went as far as searching their names on facebook, finding multiple results, and placingbets on which person would turn up. Some candidates failed the interview before they left their house!!

We had sh*t like that at a Subway when I worked there. If someone came in handed in a CV and you didnt like the look of them or say their english was really bad... their cv would get brisco'd.

my first job i got without any experience

just bopped in and smiled and asked for vacancy.. didnt have sh*t on my cv

i was later told i was the only one who smiled and i happened to come in when the mgr was there and saw me

so i got za job.

60% of job interviews or the entire hiring process is done based on how much the hirer sees them working with you

Only one project, but I'm not even qualified/got no experience at all. Will look sweet on my CV.

Just need to do my own research and improvise.

It's a pain if hook ups are taken on before your hard work. I bet I bumped the next guy who was asked first, and had the necessary skills.
