Krks are good for accurate sound reproduction, which is why they're good for DJing and production but they're not designed to make ur music sound better, if ur gonna spend 300+ to listen to music get some top hi-fi ones coz they're designed to sweeten up what ur listing to.

For the topic starter:
Depends what you want it for.
If its a media centre e.g. TV, DVD, Audio, you can't go wrong with Onkyo, pricey but the quality is definitely up there.
If youre talking for a DJ, Hi-Fi than you might need to split it up.
Check out eBay for a second hand NAD amp, they go for ridiculous money brand new, but you can pick up some bargains.
Stay away from Cambridge audio, its the cheap selection from Richer Sounds (same as American Audio), build it up bit by bit based on your budget.

sinisters got some good advice...
whats the budget?
id say for what u just said go for a 2.1 logitech pc setup. small and will sound ok, tump some bass if you get a better one. BUT if ur gonna go amp/speaker combo ur amp is much more important than the speakers tbh. half decent pair of speakers are usually ruined by amps. for a deal as sinister said old NAD amps. Try old technics amps but do ur research and find the better ones and ebay em. cheap speakers that are v good - missions. erm. rokits r a good idea too if u don't want an amp but id go for yamaha hs80m tbh

Had these in my garage for about 2 years, work a f*ck*ng treat. Plug n play, very loud crisp clear, deep bass.
Simple 2.1 set up, plug in to mains and your off.
