I have a student account with Natwest and a current account from when I was a kid, with the Woolwich. Woolwich is just gonna be Barclays and I hate Barclays so can anyone recommend any other banks for a current account?I'm thinking maybe Abbey National coz they're so international with the whole Satander thing. But same way there's no Abbey National near me at uni. That's very very long. But then again, there's never been a Woolwich near me at uni and I only have one year left.Suggestions anyone?

lloyds are good. thats my moms fav bank. i with barclays, hsbc, and have an abbey accnt which i wanna close. abbey is the worst bank ever. anything spanish run apart from la liga is sh*t.

got a current account with Natwestim planning to sign up to Lloyds TSB because they have a 8% AER savings account but they keep telling me i need a parent to be there when i sign up because im under 18 KMT, it's long because my parents dont get home till like 6pm on weekdays when the bank closes at 4pm and the bank closes at 12.30 on weekends when them times im just waking up

I basically just want a bank with good customer service. I don't like Barclays, I feel like they're too powerful and know it. They don't give a sh*t about me and my ã9.85 that's sat in my account for months because I can't withdraw it.AER means nothing to me. There won't be enough money in there to build up any sort of interest.

im with halifax , only downfall about them is the cheaponasty cards they give you , your bank number details on your card fade away like anything . they really need to upgrade their cards.

abbey dont have good customer service, then they have all their telephone banking in india, always have systems down.one time..i was in the US 2yrs ago..worked hard to get this girl out with me..did some shoppin, got her stuff..got to till.. swiped abbey card with confidence. man tells me card denied.. after that stupid embarrassment i was fuming and cdnt ring abbey until next day cos of time diff..then called them next day and they said they locked my card for security! that i didnt tell them i was travelling so they locked it off after seeing US transactions. call me to ask if my card is being used? nahh jus lock the card. them then indian call centre people arghhhh useless.you wanna talk to a personal banker they tell u to use telephone banking. all the people i know have either left them or laugh at the fact i ever banked with themABBEY IS WASTE. NOT WORTH BEING A BANK.

Have a current account with Halifax I've had for almost 10 years, and a student account with Natwest, purely for the young person's railcard. Halifax are fine. I've had no problem with them what so ever.

I bank with HSBC and they're customer service is sh*t but overall it's cool for what I use it for.BUT you man really need to learn how to have a call centre f*cked. Anytime you get poor customer service do not have it, you wouldn't let some shop or any random man on the street boy you so don't let your bank get away with it. Them overseas call centres are not the one but at the same time some of the poorest ones I've ever come across are based here in the UK. BUT still don't ever raise your voice or be abusive.I remember one time I rang my bank and had them up just for fun, (I didn't even have much to complain about), I made them reduce the interest rate on my credit card and increase any interest on current account. Man was all ready to upgrade all my accounts and find out whatever else they could for me but I locked off cos I had to duck out.

I'm with Lloyds and Halifax.I dnt like Halifax too much anymore. Halifax denied me having a Visa Electron card when i was 17 and i got my first Visa Electron card with Lloyds when i was 16.They decided to send me a Visa electron card once i turned 18 and by then, with Lloyds, I had upgraded to a Visa debit.Halifax were on some long ting.
