We need at least one commanding defender to run the defence.Vidic is solid but he won't be able to communicate with the the rest of the defence well enough. Hopefully Hargreaves can be the missing link, in that if the Rio and Neville are out, he can be have the commanding presence in front of the the back four and guide them. Plus VDS was dodgy at end of last season so having someone there being the rock is a must.I think the rest of the squad is fine as we have sufficient cover, just a matter of them being able to learn to play with one another, which will come as the season goes on.I Agree, that showed against milan.Also you cant tell how well nani and anderson will do, there both young and have no prem experience and wont be near ronaldos level, tho if ron gets injuryed they can be nearly as good with a few changes. He might not be the best defender in the World or have anything too special about him but without his presence and experience it makes a big difference. He has the heart & desire to succeed and he's passionate about the club.But still Rio is more important in defence cos his still got at least 4 years ahead of him, he holds the CB position - in the heart of defence and he now knows his got to be the backbone otherwise the teams f*cked.
