Dre did two records, we were doing the deal, and during the deal the Christmas break came. We took a break for two weeks - came back and Dre acted like we never spoke! I was like âAlright, this Raekwon thingâ¦â and heâs like âNah, I ainât f*ckinâ with that no moreâ. And that was it! He turned it off. Boom! Just like that. The thing about it also, is heâs very busy with Detox. I guess over the break he got excited about doing Detox again, so when he came back and they started talking about Raekwon, he was âNah, I wanna do thisâ and everything changed. As Dreâs interest shifts, the whole label has to shift. So if youâre working on a project, for instance, youâre an A&R and youâre doing something and heâs excited about it, and then heâll just wake-up one day and be like âYo, I wanna do thisâ, and heâs a very creative guy - and creative people are like that, theyâll be like âNah, I donât wanna do that anymoreâ - but he doesnât realize itâs like a hurricane for the little guys! When he changes his mind heâs just changed fifteen lives! Even down to the engineers. Iâm pretty sure heâs not doing it like âf*ck everybodyâ, but I donât think he sees how deep the effects run. The saying at Aftermath is they donât put out independent movies - they only put out blockbusters. Not saying that they didnât think Raeâs record was gonna be a blockbuster, but Dre decided he was gonna work on his blockbuster at the time. I was thinking whats going on with his album.I swear a similar thing happened to Rakim when he was signed to Aftermath.LOL @ not knowing about Raekwon.
