buyin to let at this point in time is not an investment at all
Tis not true.
11k is nothing tho some people go on like its hard to make . . .jus save and dont go out but then again u aint got a social life . . .
That is true, the same people who say 11k is alot (+20yrs) are prob the same people who rave week in/week out, the same people who will buy something as soon as they see it without doing research which would save them quite abit...I am 19 and have spent tens of thousands on cars since I was 15/16, lived away from home for year and a half and didn't like it too much so moved back home... fact is I need to look after my mum for a little while longer and then I will think about putting that 15k down on a yard when my feet are FIRMLY on the ground - and that's not a money based decision as annually I earn more than most twice my age make in a few years - It's purely a MENTAL STATE and I am not ready to jump in the water YET...It's easy to say'You should of put that 11k towards a house'Fact is though it's nowhere near as simple as that plus the mortgage payments of around 1K a month (plus supporting yourself) are not for the feint hearted... Buying a car is just as important, f*ck I have brought TONS of banger cars, all breaking down or loosing them within 3 months of getting them... However the cars that I have spent GOOD money on have lasted me nicely...
Half the people your age are going university or having there gap year.
What's your point? If I said I spent 11k on a car, the same rabbits would have said the same thing to me.Treacle is 2 years older than me, plus she is a female which realisticly speaking puts her in the same mindframe I am in now...

My point is you cannot brag about something if other people can not do it because they are doing something better for their future.

LOL at the logic in that&LOL again if you call that bragging, if I went into detail you would re-evaluate your sad lonely life.

You said half of my age blah blah blah, which is bragging. There is nothing you could possibly say to make me want to re-evaluate my life.

This whole thread just shows differences in mentality. Some live for the short term thrill where as others would rather think ahead and focus on long term prospects.
treacle may have the bes of both worldsthe one where she can splash out if she chooses tothe other where she decides to saveits not like she does this all the time is it.or does she?

£11,000 may not be a lot... if you know how to make it quick time or your in some high paid job.But with the salary I get... even if i was to stop raving (which i hardly do now anyway) save and stay in my house slowly saving... if I saved up 11k that would still be a lot to mecan the people who say it aint a lot honestly say that if that amount of money is placed in their hand...they would look at it saying s'nuffin?Im not a millionaire yet to be claimin dat aint a lot lol! Maybe it's because im cheap...hell i dont kno.

£11,000 is not alot of money in London in this day and age. I didn't bat an eyelid when she said she paid that for her car, sounds about right to me. But seriously what could you do with £11,000 that is really worth while?Way I see it, if you've got the money and then some, do what you want with it, especially if theres more where that came from.
are u serious?
this is what i mean by silver spoon youths.some people are really lucky their parents are wadded because you dun know if mummy and daddy dont buy your house for you or help buy your house for you, you aint going nowhere.about what could you do with 11k thats worthwhile!11k could be flipped into 15 at very least. the bottom line is, you buy a house before a car when dealing with that kinda cash. even if you aint gonna live in it. buying to let will do much more for you than a mini on your drive.there's drug dealers with range rovers sat on their mumzies drive with the same mentality as you. just they're unlucky cos when their ps disappear, mummy and daddy wont come with the re-up.the thing that smacks it is you prolly look down on them guys who buy chains and diamond earrings b4 theyve got their own house but you're living just like them but you have a safety net (the rents)
m12 does have a good point here still

this was always gonna be one of those threads that people try and cut other people's coats according to THEIR sizethe 11k reference seemed to mean not alot to get apart from a car or investments. just bcos the man on 100k sees 11k as alot doesnt mean he wont couldnt spend it on a holiday. m12 is usually on point but that thing u wrote there...too generalistic
