put ur dad or mum or even both as second drivers, with u as the main. it brings down the premium, and u earn no claims. Bell.co.uk, do a 10month insurance policy, where if u dont make a claim u get a years worth of no claims. im on that, plus the flexibell insurance, where for 40quid extra, im insured on other cars (third party cover only)if ur cars worth less than 1200, only get third party, fire and theft cover. cos most comprehensive insurance policies force u to pay the first £500 towards any claim u make. it aint really worth it fora cheap car.my first year i was on liverpool victoria, and the other day i asked for my no claims to be sent in a letter as proof for my next insurance policy, and they say i have TWO years ncb, i've only been passed for a year :S

Thats exactly what i got but with Diamond. My quote actually came up to £725 to pay fully. But cos i didnt have the full amount, i had to pay monthly and interest plus personal injury cover topped it up to £1026, something like that.

f*ck Cars.Just know to have a bit of money on the side just in case. I took my car in to the garage now being told I need a new Catalytic Coverter going to cost me about £750 or something, parts and the work I've already had done inclusive.
This is why I would only buy a newer car, can't be dealing with these little surprises, older cars drain off the money too much with things needing fixing every 2 minutes.

See that's the thing! Car's not even that old - 03, it don't matter what car you buy, you can buy it brand new from showroom and it could cause you problems.

They give all first time drivers a 1yr introductory no claims discount.

That's true actually. I watched one of those watchdog programmes once, and a guy had to change his brand new car about 3 times because it kept breaking down. The majority of newer cars should be mechanically sound though.

LoL next time before panicking have a good look at what has lit up and why!Familiarise yourself with your fog lights - front and rear, headlights, engine management, oil, exhaust emissions etc. They're all on the dashboard around the speedometer. And get a service done every 15 - 20,000 miles and hopefully you'll be okay. At the end of the day if a fault is going to happen, it will happen.
