What's the Maths side like at Uni level?I know it'll be a step up from A level but is it a BIG step up?

Well, I'm a first year, from what I've done, it's basically a repeat.Everyone cruises first year and with a 40% pass rate...your pissed if you don't make itFrom second year I'm told you step up though. In my case I'm pretty sure what to expect as you use the same types of maths in engineering all the time.If your doing pure maths or something, boy, best be pumping straight As and Bs lol.Lol @ Dip sig.

Yeah, no bighead but I'm cruising through the course atm.No notes, revised a few weeks before come out with 86/98%Know I can't slip like that at Uni though.What's the course like, bare nerds doing it or..?

Think that depends on your Uni tbh, I go Brunel, like half of the class is south man lol, but everyone seems to know their stuff.Got 2 guys in Leeds who say their class is fully neeked out, helps to have them sort of friends at times though.

I was thinking the same thing, going Sheffeild.If my class is neeked out I'd probably concentrate more.

Straight Maths at Sheffield is going to be fairly neeky. But it will be quite a lot of people that are actually quite sociable and stuff but are good at maths. Try to make friends with a few early on. My course had a lot of worksheets (3 a week) and each one could take 3+ hours. 90% of the time nobody can do a sheet on their own. Little group sessions help loads.

Cheers, wasn't sure what to expect.Not too bothered about it being fairly neeky, can mix with people from the rooms.Get on with all kinds of people too..Have yYou finished the course yet?If so, what job did you go into when you left?

Yeah I graduated in July. I'm in audit now. Easiest route and you get a qualification out of it. Bit of a par in the application process though as most of them require a 2:1 from any degree discipline so you and the idiot girl doing Philosophy are put on the same level but Maths is respected so job prospects are plentiful.NOTE: Don't slack in your first year. Yes you only need 40% but 40% ain't gonna get you a summer internship at the end of second year and you want that internship!
