i don't think that i conform more to my 'white side' than my black side' personally...how much you affiliate with your culture depends on how you were brought up imo...unless you take it upon yourself to find out about it.i was brought up by my white mum and i don't see that much of dads family...so i don't really feel like yeah i'm black or monsterration or whatever...because i don't feel that affiliated with it.but on the other hand...mum my is not english but she was adopted...so she doesn't know that much about her cultures...so neither do i.i don't think mixed race people tend to pick and choose what 'side' they want to be affiliated with...like with everyone else...it down to socialisation init

I never forget im from two races. i was brought up by my mum but still have alot of contact with my dads family aswell. i love both sides the same i would never 'lean' more towards one side. when someone asks me my heritage, i just say im english and caribbean. i went to school where 99% of the students where white, i was always refered to as black, i would always corect them. my old boss thought i was arabic i see mixed race as a race of its own

1/2 Jamaican & 1/2 Nigerian is NOT mixed race. That is a mixture of nationalities, or better to describe it, cultures. This person would 99.9% of the time be black. Nations = Races = Wrong

i didn't say that 1/2 nigerian 1/2 jamacian was mixed race...i know that its a mixture of nationalities.i was just pointing out that hes getting at mixed race people for not displaying the two 'sides' of them at every available opportunity....but that he wouldn't do the same for people of mixed nationalities...and if the issue is about displaying where you come from...then that should apply to people of mixed nationality as well as people of mixed race.

Mother and father are both mixed jamaicans, 3 of my grandparents are mixed in some way. My dads family grew up on chinese food more than westindian food. It would be hard for me not to recognise the other influences in my life. Most time most people black people think I'm Indian, Indian people don't know where i am from.
