What I don't understand is why Wenger even bothered signing Diarra because I get the impression Diarra made it very clear that he was expecting 1st team games almost on arrival.
Thinking the same thing TBH....

Diarra was probably intended to get a lot of games when he arrived. Flamini was 4th-choice CM at the time. But he stepped up unexpectedly when he got his chance, and kept both beanhead and Gilberto out of the side. And Diarra couldn't have been kept, simply because he wanted out. Wenger has never kept players who don't want to stay.

Because Diarra was in Wenger's mind going to take Flamini's place in the team.

True he had a contract, but forcing an unhappy player to stay against their will is disastrous. What good to ANY company is an employee who is visibly and vocally unhappy? And wants to leave, but can't? Much less to a football team, where morale and spirit is vitally important?Wenger has never been a "f*ck your feelings, rot in the reserves" type of manager

SMH.Diarra couldnt have been kept.
why not?
Wasnt playing, wanted to play every week, and made it clear he wanted to leave.
He just signed a contract, so we could have blocked the move
We've discussed this before, Diarra withdrew himself from games, he made it very clear.

So why didn't he play him more often then?

Cos you cant drop a inform player cos Diarra says so.Especially when you told the inform player, perform & you will play.Diarra slows up our play anyway, held the ball too long.
