The Student Room is full of these ignorant types...
f*ck*ng HATE this place.
From my experience, most ACSs are just opportunities for black people to come together and discuss what makes a wasteman, why don't black mandem bowcat, and other gems such as should guys pay on teh first date, why are black guys just waste, and black guys that go for white girls are bounties. Anyways, you see my point. There isn't any real depth at all to these societies, and they don't really offer anything that would make someone that isn't black want to join or even find out about it. Now this is primarily in "hype" unis, so I have no idea what Warwick's, Oxford's, UCL, etc. would be like, but I have experienced my uni and some others and it is a joke in all honesty.
co sign, my acs was a pile of sh*t it was run by hyped boys who put on boog rnb raves just to draw girls they thought they had status as well. lol @ their faces when one of my friends suggested that they have a debate or cememorative evening to speak on malcolm x & martin luther king and other culture related stuff
Few friends of mine are in the Kings College one. It's an utter joke.
Gonna see the work placement office today...Ari Gold-movements baby, gonna see if they can help me get a placement in an agency mailroom, Anyone had/going to have placements?Have your universities helped any?
You are going to hate it. Forget any entourage fantasy you have in your head about what it might be like. You are going to utterly hate it.(That's if it's a top agency)I spent 6 weeks at ICM a while back thinking it would be like it is in films and TV. It's not.BUT DONT LET THAT PUT YOU OFF.

go suck off a horse/revised editionCertain people may claim that History is an ‘irrelevant subject’, in an era that on the surface appears to be dominated by Economics and large-scale businesses. However, I view statements of this nature as incredibly frivolous, due to the fact that past events and decisions still continue to shape society, affecting the lives of many. One only has to briefly assess the situation in Northern Ireland, to realise that blunders which occurred hundreds of years ago can still have a tremendous effect on the public. An in-depth understanding of History can prevent future blunders, perhaps if Tony Blair and George Bush knew their history they would not have engaged in a costly war with AfghanistanI am currently studying English Literature, Politics and History, each of these respected subjects require great analytical skill that will place me in good stead once I embark upon my undergraduate study of History. Politics has always been an interest of mine, and is a subject that is in many aspects similar to History, particularly in the sense that I have to study decisions from by-gone eras that still bear a significant impact on our lives today. Most importantly I have always thoroughly enjoyed History, and it only seems like natural progression for me to continue this passion into higher education. The skills I have acquired from studying History have been of unprecedented importance to me. For example analysing sources for credibility is an ability I now employ on a day-to-day basis, whether reading the newspaper or watching the news.To supplement my A2 study of History and general progression, I have read books ranging from Ian Kershaw’s “Hitler Myth” to J.M. Roberts “Modern History From the European Age to the New Global Era. I have particularly enjoyed these compelling books as they helped broaden my knowledge of the World’s development, along with the history of Nazi Germany and will most definitely pay dividends once I begin my coursework. Outside reading is essential to any degree and I fervently believe my decision to begin this now has rendered me far better prepared for university. In my spare time I have visited intriguing museums such as the Museum of London and the Imperial War museum, I found these two renowned establishments highly interesting and have journeyed to the pair of them on many occasions. I found the Museum of London fascinating as I learned of London’s progression from a small roman city to one of the largest and most vibrant cities in the world. My first visit to this museum was at around the age of 8 and this was an experience that began my interest in History. The Imperial War museum has also proven to be beneficial as it gave me a greater insight into the First and Second World Wars and helped me to comprehend the tremendous effects they had on the lives of both soldiers and those on the home front. Another Museum which ‘heightened’ my life was the Cannabis museum in Amsterdam, this excursion eradicated my pre-conceived notions of the soft drug largely demonised by the media and government alike. My spare time is typically spent at the gym. The self-discipline needed to continually train at the gym and maintain your personal well-being is incredibly high. This self-discipline is also reflected in my general attitudes towards education, which is entirely focused and never lacking in direction. The dedication I have in regards to the study of History is un-alterable. However, the skill I manifest in the subject is constantly changing for the better and I would relish the opportunity to improve my ability even further at your respected university.
