Tbh I wanna go uni for a variety of reasons

1. Prospects

2. Increase levels of intellect

3. Life experience

uni is THE most overated thing. it all depends on what your doing.

the prospects only come if your doing a proper sick degree, in that case i doubt you will achieve any life experience because you will be f*cked with workload. even then the prospects dont seem that bright because its so competitive, their is always some c*nt who done a PhD or with more qualificiations and a better CV than you.

if you dont do a proper distinguishable course or go towards a field with a lot of demand for employees, then the prospects of employment and money aint that great.

after good long think about it, think about whether all the debt you incur and ask yourself. will it really be worth it?

Good stuff, best attitude is to want to do what you're doing lol - my decision was made by weighing up what would be best and choosing that rather than actively wanting to go to uni... didn't seem to work to well for my enthusiasm towards the choice

same. i just chose it because i thought it was the better choice to make for the future, as appose to actually wanting to do a course at uni.

sometimes i really f*ck*ng wish i never went, but then i dont know how i would ever get myself a good job and climb up the ladder. the best jobs and prospects are always tied to careers with a future in them.

then you wake up and realise

c/s spidey

personally i will never do a masters or phd

but anyone in a specific field should aim for membership in "Chartered Institute" of ect ect

wouldnt advise anyone to do a jack of all trades course like business studies or media

make a decision now and stop confusing yourself. know what you want to do and do it

lol @ thinking you're getting a 60k job cos you went uni

you're f*ck*ng dreaming mate

maybe if you get a 2:1 or better in economics, finance or accounting from Oxbridge, LSE or UCL you might be on 60k 3-4 years out of uni

My brother went to Aston, and he's on 45k. He graduated this year.

Yes History is traditionally worthwhile. Don't bother going to any Uni that isn't top 10/20 or Russell Group. End of story.

The more I think about it I'll be PISSED if I don't get my first choice

Not even joking. It's an MNC, one of the biggest in Europe, I'd say, but it'd be bait tbh. Had a year in Industry with a different MNC [Earnt 15k p/a there]. Not even lying, I envy his CV.

I weren't doubting you fam I was more pointing out the russel group/top 20 part

what degree did he do just a business one with a year in industry?

Business Computing and IT. Major selling point was the IT, I'll pm you the company he works for now if you want. And yeah a year in industry. My course is only 3 years though, so most I could do is a summer internship, which is what I'm looking for.

Next year I'm going to get on that voluntary/organising thing hard, bulk up the CV a bit.

So you've said that I'm wrong, and then said that the only reason he was offered the position he's in is because he had impressive relevant work experience, not because of his uni?

Obviously nobody is implying that it's actually impossible to get a good job without going to a top 5 uni, bit as a general rule people who went to those uni's have their foot in the door to a greater extent.

Yeah fair play, pmed you Natty. I'm not saying you're wrong, just saying getting work experience and having a good CV goes a long way.

Most people always try to apply to the bait graduate jobs IMO, there are truck load of European firms that are relatively obscure, yet big enough to earn the money you want scattered everywhere.

Nothing worse than graduating with a lean CV though.

Imperial's male:female ratio for undergraduate students is uneven at approximately 64:36 overall

Mad ting

LOL thats f*ckin generous, id say its worse.

seriously i dont even consider those kind of "uni" factors when it comes to my uni. its not about the socialising or the chicks (because its sh*t for it), its more like a regular 9-5 to me.

my exam at 1.30, needed to teach myself the whole module today.

Started 10pm stopped 12midnight. Did someone say summer retake? My four exams in the first 3 days just made me feel like I don't give a sh*t.

Then these guys came back from the pub and woke me up, pretty jokes but swear down when my exams are done their sleep is getting interrupted!
