So Solid came along and ruined UK Garage. You had 1 or 2 decent people out the whole crew and the rest either sounded sh*t on the mic or were super clanger DJ's.They came with a couple of tunes but overall contributed supreme fraffness.
Lol, definitely not from the ends. 1 or 2 decent MCs? Blud that crew was most probably the most well-rounded crew there has ever been. Them man could host and really spit as a collective.
Thats rightI aint from shitty South. Only Romeo had a decent flow and alright lyrics. All the rest from So Solid were spitting Micky Mouse lyrics. The big boys in UK Garage always looked at So Solid as a joke.
Who are these big boys you speak of and how do you know that? I never heard that before.Romeo was alright still. Coffe without a kettle lyric was big, but it was more his voice than lyrics. Much better as a host/on sets than track even though Oh No was huge. Oh my f*ck*ng days what a beat.
lol at man sayin he couldnt take so solid seriously. cnt believe i jus heard that im pretty sure uve only been listenin to music for a couple years cos how can there lyrics be mickey mouse at the time...they were the hardest out in that period.i cant ever take anything u say about conspiracies seriously again. ur obviously a c*nt
From time certain man are hyping that the were great I know you was on some little kid flex.Serious people did look at So Solid as a joke. Asher D was a good mc but not over Garage tunes. LOL at rapping over Garage tunes. So Solid was a joke. Just look at the way they dressed and there lyrical content. They were seen as d*ckheads. The same man that are hyping So Solid are the same man who are hyping rappers like Lil Wayne and Plies. They was like the poor mans Heartless crew.
The way you spit utter sh*t like its facts is commendable. If I didnt know any better you could fool me. So Solid were Mickey Mouse then had the cheek to throw HLC out there? As good as HLC are they are still Mickey Mouse in comparison.Your absoultely confused though. You say they were Mickey Mouse then single out Romeo as the good one. Then you cuss Asher for rapping over Garage and all now you cant come with who said they werent serious. You really saying Asher wasnt serious? My question to you is, who is a serious MC
I bet you was like some So Solid groupie going to them sh*t unorganised raves they done in south.HLC at least had a real good DJ and there mc's did not go on like some top boy american rappers. Romeo sounded good over garage beats were as Asher was a better MC overall but over garage beats sounded swag. Over a hip hop beats it is a different story.

Your correct about the HLC DJ and image but they were still Mickey Mouse. Hear you on your last point as well. We'll agree to disagree on talent. ou still havent come with who said they were sh*t though. I'm guessing it as just you and your mandemDo you know what makes So Solid's achievements that much greater? Them man were young and f*cked it up in a big way. f*ck Chipmunk, swear Neuch was 17 and #1 with Casualty (Bound For Da Reload)?

All the top boy Garage DJ's boycotted So Solids music.I did not hear any of them DJ's buss So Solid in a club except for Oh NoThey would have been laughed at if they buss them sh*t mc tracks they released. The best track to come from them was 'Oh No'.

Did they think it was sh*t or they didnt want to attract a same type of Garage fans? What your saying sounds similar to what Tippa says about Circle's music policy. There you go again with this laughed at thing. And anyway who cares about what them DJs played, they wouldnt play Pow, does it make it a sh*t tune/genre?

na thats air. the kind of person u are are the kind of emo guys that cuss suttin in their circle but if it was a face to face ting ud be lookin at the floor.NO WAY was so solid in 99-01 a joke movement. ur gas and so is ur thoughts and opinions. i pity u and anyone that calls u an allie.
They was a joke movement. You only have to watch the 21 seconds video too see that. There were vast amounts of people in the scene who laugh at Solid and there antics.Just look at the sh*t raves they organised and how they them raves flopped. Most of So Solid were either sh*t MC's or there DJ's were top boy clangers.I know looking back now you can see the hype but dont want to admit it.

It was a bit of both imo. They did not want to attract that scatty So Solid crowd and the tunes they released were poor compared to the UK Garage tunes that were being rinsed around that time like Wookies stuff etc.

Depends on who you talk to. Just 'cause you DJ well and know and play a certain type of music really well doesnt actually make you an expert on the genre as a whole. Remember these DJs are people too who have taste and biased like everyone else. I would like to hear how those songs were poor. Dilemma, They Dont Know and Oh No were examples of some of the most groundbreaking beats to come out of the genre IMO. I hadn't heard anything like them in Garage. Its like the whole generational arguement really. Depends on what you were accustomed to. Them dudes most prob dont like Grime but love Bassline. Bassline is sh*t to me. Its all taste and opinion at the end of the day.So Solid are legends and should be the most influential group to majority of those who came up after them. No crew can talk to So Solid on a level. None

So Solid pissed on their legacy when they brought out their second album. If a crew as big as them for doing Garage/MC based music came out today and had that much success with an album, then followed it up with something that sounded like Second Chapter or whatever it was called, the backlash from listeners would be absolute f*ckery. But, at their height they were f*ck*ng massive. They were the first ever superstars out of this whole thing we have in the UK. And when that first album dropped they really were SUPERSTARS. No-one, not even Dizzee, has been that big since.21 Seconds was not a big tune in clubs at the time though. Not until the video dropped. And even then it wasn't a ravers track. Even Oi was bigger in a dance. So I would give this one to Pow.But how can you say So Solid weren't pioneers and the first to do this whole Grime thing? Making beats on playstation, spitting fast bars with current UK slang, talking about UK road culture. You going to tell me MC Creed or someone did it first?

Coz [£ Sterling] He's a big time hayta[£ Sterling]All he has to do is look in the 'What Got You Into Grime' thread to see that people went from garage to Dark Garage then Grime. Dark Garage = So Solid basically

nah there was dark beats b4 so solid from guys like masterstepz (lol but true), el b, groove chronicals, zed bias, wookie, sticky, jameson and more names i dont remember and them 1 hit white label wondersI would say they are one of the people who set a way for grime sound but the grime sound for me was invented by guys like, wiley/dizzee/slimzee/geenus/target/danny weed/maxwell d/ gods giftthey came up with a whole new distinctive sound to the way they spat on the beat to the sounds they used u would never get so solid using the sounds like what dizzee was using in ho
