Rovers axe falls on InceBlackburn Rovers have confirmed that they have sacked manager Paul Ince.Sky Sports revealed on Tuesday that Ince was meeting with John Williams about his future, and they have now confirmed his departure.Ince only arrived in the summer from League One Milton Keynes Dons as he replaced Mark Hughes, who opted to join Manchester City. Now with the club sat second from bottom of the table and five points adrift of safety, Rovers have decided they needed to take action."Three wins in 17 games has seen a squad, which finished seventh last season, fall to 19th position. We are currently in real danger of becoming detached from the pack," said chairman John Williams."The survival of the club in the Premier League is paramount and our focus now is on finding a replacement who will be able to maintain our top division status."Paul will bounce back, he is a fighter and we wish him well."Early reports suggest that former boss Graeme Souness is one of the favourites to replace Ince, with the likes of Sam Allardyce, Alan Curbishley and Roberto Mancini also linked.Former Blackburn striker Kevin Gallacher believes Ince was unlucky that circumstances conspired against him.The ex-Scotland international said: "I think you need time to get in and blend your own style."Unfortunately for Paul a lot of things went wrong, two of his best players were going when he arrived, there was no money to spend, players he brought in were injured and it never settled down."I don't think Paul knew his best XI and I think that was the problem."When you are letting in an awful lot of goals you've got to rectify it and he didn't quite do that."
Williams laments Ince sackingBlackburn chairman John Williams has told Sky Sports News how hard it was to sack Paul Ince as manager.Rovers axed Ince on Tuesday after just six months in charge at Ewood Park.Williams admits it was a tough decision, but he insisted it was the right one."It was very difficult, and not something we like to do at all," Williams told Sky Sports News."But we have to think first and foremost only about the club."Our predicament is a worry and in the end we had to make a decision in our best interests."We are halfway through the season and are getting detached at the bottom, poor form, poor run of results and a disappointing performance at the weekend and frankly it is time to change in order to make sure the club retain its status."Williams admits he was disappointed to have seen Ince's tenure end in this manner."Very disappointing and not the way we wanted things to work out at all," he said."Our focus now is clearly on going forward."
i think its a knee jerk reaction and perfectly represents what a farce being a top flight manager nowadays is.clubs left right and center mention teams like Man Utd and Arsenal as inspiration.but what they fail to realise is that having a level stability in the team and management structure is what lead to these teams being soo dominant in both league and cup competitions.Ince was brought in as a young manager, not experienced in the top flight but with bags of talent and potential that needed to be cultivated. So sacking him half way into the season makes little to no sense.Especially when you consider the lack of funds made available to him and the team unrest as soon as he arrived.Plus certain quarters of the media intimating that he'd only stay in the job because he was black, or using his skin colour as a point of criticism. Nonsense all round.Modern day managers are expected to turn things around in an instant, to uncover unhidden gems for a fraction of the price or to build a team capable of challenging for titles and cups. But the crucial thing none of them are given (especially in this country) is TIME.It takes time to build championship winning teams, time to develop understanding between new players and time for the manager to inplement his philosophy.

lolif he comes out with this race bullshit i will lose even more respect for him, hes sh*t and was by far the worst manager in the league imo
I've clocked you've been bare critical of Ince from the start, why do you think he's such a sh*t manager?
he's arrogant and talks about himself in third person, which immediatly makes me think he's a d*ckheadhe made some meesley effort at 'learning his trade' by doing an OK job over a short period at a team that could only improve, and then joined the chelsea of league 2 and did what was expected of him, and started talking as if he was a managerial mastermindhe makes baffling tactical decisions during games that never seem to come off, the players look lost on the pitch at when under him times tooone of my mates is a blackburn fan (from when they won the league) and told me that he heard that ince came in on his first day of training and made david bentley do 20 pressups for standing with his arms foldedthe man is just an utter tool, i was glad he got his chance because it was a refreshing change and i'd of liked him to do well as the more british managers at the top the better, but he has never once acted humble and is constantly claiming theres a vendetta against him because of either his race of his previous club history.

-Flojo was on the same wavelength as I-None of what you have said above make him sh*t though.I hear your point about MK Dons (although he still had to do it, Mourinho isn't sh*t), but I would say he worked a minor miracle at Macclesfield. They were playing some atrocious non-winning football and he managed to get them playing well and getting wins to pull back a rediculous points deficit. So I take it your opinion is slightly tainted by your hatred (strong word?) of the man rather than his skills.+My own take on Ince is that I don't think he is sh*t, nor do I think he is the best ting since sliced bread like some proclaimed. I feel he was out of is depth at a club like Blackburn and maybe would have done better getting some experience in the Championship first. I think he made too big a jump.
