Rhetorical question.Depends on a lot of things, like what kinda career/area you're going into.From Experience:Investment Banking - £30kBanking/Accountancy - £28kEngineering - £25kMedicine - £20k - £28k depending on calls
Are those supposed to be in London or everywhere?
London. But I'm in engineering, and most engineering jobs aint in London.

On a real though, if you're good with money, 20K p/a can go a long way.If you have a partner and he/she is also earning a national average salary (20k) you can really be comfortable for life.
a long way? how? in london??20k b4 or after tax? im assuming after AND im assuming that this person will be debt free??? i cant see it going a long way. any shake or change in finance, unforseen costs will put that person into debt..even if just an overdraft. he/she will just survive..not have money that goes a long way

I said if you're good with money...also, you're dwelling too much on the meaning of "a long way" which is to be expected from you. Unforeseen costs will be factored into anyone's budget who is good with money.I'm speaking with real life experience of living in London having been on CONSIDERABLY less than that.

Guest Tibbius
me at the moment, would not accept anything less than £20K
In what career?
in any to be honest, my last contract was £24k (3rd sector), so accepting anything under £20k is below mefreelance atm

erm Im thinking banking may not be a good move anymore!I think your starting wage does depend on your qualifications- experience can not get you the graduate jobs! Your wage after that probably reflects the potential you show on the job. However loads of people have degrees now.... making graduate posts ultra competative. And a degree lower than a 2:1 is point-less.

You're still at uni aren't you? Coz I'm not. Graduated. Got a 2:2. I'm an auditor on a graduate programme.Doesn't feel pointless.

It genuinely grinds my gears when people on this site say "if you don't get at least a 2:1 you've wasted your time at university"Thats a load of f*ck*ng bullshit.

most grad programmes are 2:1 and above though. but there arent many grad programmes anymore so if you have the experience to cover up for academics you shouldn't have a problem.

I found it at careers events and online. My degree was in Maths. No oversharing today.
