Activision "might stop supporting Sony

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick has said that his company may have to stop supporting the PlayStation 3 if Sony does not drop the price of the luxury console."They have to cut the price, because if they don't, the attach rates [the number of games each console owner buys] are likely to slow. If we are being realistic, we might have to stop supporting Sony," said Kotick to The Times."When we look at 2010 and 2011, we might want to consider if we support the console — and the PSP [portable] too."According to the report, Activision paid USD 500 million in royalties to Sony last year which, "probably still worked out at 400 per cent of the profit they made".He added: "I'm getting concerned about Sony; the PlayStation 3 is losing a bit of momentum and they don't make it easy for me to support the platform."It's expensive to develop for the console, and the Wii and the Xbox are just selling better. Games generate a better return on invested capital on the Xbox than on the PlayStation."Big releases from Activision this year include a reinvigorated Tony Hawk title complete with peripheral, DJ Hero, the latest spin-off of the popular Guitar Hero franchise, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which Activision expects to be the "biggest entertainment launch of all time".
Thats f*cked if that happensthat means no more call of dutyhttp://www.eurogamer.net/articles/activisi...pporting-sony_9

its crazy that a third party developer has the power to bully a company like this
They're not exactly bullying them are they though?Sony got positive feedback from other companies such as EA etc.Not even gonna buy thier games, they've turned dumb as of recent.

from time they have the audacity to put out statements such as this then they obviously have weight and bullying power. Look how much hype this has caused already. If any other small company said such a thing they would be considered a joke for such a statement. They are only mirroring the sentiments of a lot of other developers. Whether you like their games or not they are a power house that sell sh*t loads.

They're still not a threat to Sony, yes they may be big, but just 'cause they haven't made enough profit on thier PS3 games don't mean anything to anyone. You don't see Ubisoft, EA, Take2 talking smack. They made a profit on thier PS3 games, and they've already said their thoughts. This dumb threat, if you can call it a threat, is just pointless. Isn't there a PS3 Slim coming this year? <_<

=/They literally have though. And it isn't even about this case in the matter. They went off and halted EA to stop making Brutal Legend, which was one of the better titles of 2009.And i haven't even bought any activision games tbh. The games i own from them are all used.
