Tirunih
I'm not a producer but i've been messing inconsistently with fruity since i was 15, so i'm not good. But reading what you guys are typing you obviously know what you're talking about so i got a few questions for guys like, dubby, gattsu, bmc and others; What software do you use?Do you have a studio? What genre of music do you produce?Do you use instruments to help make your beat? The Cookie Monster
fruity is good for drum patterns, but for melodies it's not that great, unless you have sampled sounds. Vst's and the piano roll window will fix this.I produce, not as often as I used to. Slowed right down over the last 12 months. What software do you use?Reason 4Do you have a studio?NoWhat genre of music do you produce?Grime, Hiphop, RnbDo you use instruments to help make your beat?Keyboard

Dubby
Reason isn't VST compatible which many people may see as a negative but loads of people still use it. I don't see why they haven't allowed it or it's new Record interface to be rewire hosts but that's their choice innit. I personally don't think logic is the best for mixing down/master. pro-tools has it hands down. But in terms of sequencing/ arrangement & editing Logic is the best in the market.oh yeah its 2 different things when you use waves SSL on fruity & when you use it on P-tools/logic
Captain Planet
Exactly, then how can people say it's all you need?IMO Cubase & FL are the most adaptable programs though but imo Cubase's interface is utter sh*t.Infact forget this conforming sh*t.Sibelius>>>>>>>Export as MIDILoad up into your favourite sequencer.BANG

Captain Planet
Well whatever you call it, why are you trying to be "anal" as they say?Navigating in Cubase is a nightmare I had to do like 4 pieces of coursework using it and it just made me want to kill more and more. Dubby
Reason is "all you need" because it comes with all the instruments and effects you'd ever really need. Many people want more though, and that's why Reason isn't for everyone.@ Afroman. How exactly is it "two different things" when using Waves SSL on Logic to using it on FL? How exactly is it "two different things" when using Waves SSL on Logic to using it on FL?The final output of a track at 0 level on fruity sounds thiny & distorted. from my previous experience.Other softwares like pro-tools & logic provides alot more head-room for the mix. Now some might argue that its down the the interface/soundcard. But I disagree.

Greens
I would never mix in Fruity apart from basic levels, all about exporting the layers and the mixing in pro-tools. I only use fruity as a sequencer with various vsts and plugins which suits me fine, alot of bigish producers use it aswell.

djbmc
i think getting a cracked version of cubase to work without crashing is nigh on impossible, and i don't think there's much difference between logic and cubase, it more comes down to what ur familiar with.
