Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes under-fire Anderson will win over his critics by finally coming good for Manchester United.Anderson has been heavily criticised for a string of average performances which have seen him regularly dropped from Sir Alex Ferguson's starting Xl.Failing to prove himself after his £18million switch from Porto two years ago, the 21-year-old has been forced to settle for a string of substitute or reserve appearances. However, Solskjaer believes the youngster will soon put his poor spell behind him and prove his worth at Old Trafford as he did during his first season with the club. The reserve coach spoke of his admiration for a determined Anderson, who scored for the second string against Wigan earlier this week when answering his boss' call to work harder for his place."Ando has shown his qualities and attitude," Solskjaer told the Manchester Evening News."Now it is a case of him taking his chance when he gets it and putting down a marker to stay in the team."He is going to be a big player for Manchester United."RowRumours of a row between player and manager have not helped Anderson in his quest to bounce back to first team action.Though Ferguson himself has denied any bust-up, the Brazilian is still keen to show he is capable of more, especially after a promising first season with the club.Solskjaer added: "It was all glory for him in the first season, but then you sometimes get a bit of a reaction to that. It happens to a lot of players."But with Cristiano Ronaldo gone, we need players like Anderson to step up and say 'here is what all the talk was about when you signed me.'"It is always going to be a big challenge at United to get a place in the first team."No player at United is going to step aside and say 'here you take my place.'"You have to fight for it and he is more than capable of doing that as he is proving."

that was about homegrown and continental players and what not SAF said someone had to be left out..the only thing there worth noting is that he put obertan in and not tosic, when obertan probably wont be avaliable to play a champions league game till novemberbut as i say again, obertan will be the one for us to watch this year

fletcher is our only defensive midfielder who is fit the other one being hargreeves who is out injured with the new tactics fergie has been using obviously he is going to play whenever possiblescholes is nowhere near carrick in the pecking order, he just plays when he can... being past it and all that giggs isnt a central midfielder he gets played off the striker gibson hasnt even played twenty minutes this season I dont understand why with our current personel he cant play 4231 like we did much of the 07/08 season... where we played some of he best stuff ive seen from united or even the 451 we used in 06/07what or who gave him the idea that you should play 2 out and out wingers and use the flanks would work is beyond me as it takes the whole game away from players like carrick and anderson....

lol @ tronics thinking Fergie should change our system just to play Anderson in his fave position and instead put some our best players into our positions he has done nothing to warrant a starting placeprobably playing in the reserves to get abit of match fitnessonly reason he isnt starting is because does not deserve todunno why guys are like anderson >>>>like say he has done muchhis best displays have not been AMFWhy play someone there who doesnt score and then you got the same people saying play Anderson in an advanced role saying we should buy an amfATM1.Fletcher2.Giggs3.Scholes4.Carrick5.Gibson6.AndersonOur pecking order atm imo tbh
Pretty much spot on, Even when he plays in a CM 2 or 3 he doesnt look like finding good positions in the box and scoring, like Fletcher.or Picking out a pass and creating really good chances for others at a decent consistency like Giggs or scholesI rate him highly but he needs to do somthing to cement a place, he shouldnt be given a 1st team strating place jus because he's got potential both him and Carrick have been very poor so far this season

to be honest you would have a point but throughout the 90's we had roy keane doing a similar job to Darren Fletcher and no one complained about us not playing attractive football, having a workhorse/nutter in the middle is somthing we've pretty much always had,the problem is a lack of a real creative force in the middle who can do it week in week out fitness wise, Anderson should really be pushing for this role as it is there for the taking but he seems to be dilly dallying about it either when he plays or in training he needs to show fergie that that role should be his, looking at his porto days and saying he should be playing there for us isn't good enough as that is a different team in a different league. C/S His best performance being him nullyfying Cesc, this is why he is played where he is, because he has performed better in that role

SAF constant rotation of the midfield and Hargo getting injured hasn't helped Ando's case. Not making excuses but that's the truth.Plus he has NEVER played in his favoured 'no.10' position since he arrived. We signed him on the basis of him being this creative south american that could unlock teams and score a couple, don't see the harm in trying him out in that position. If it doesn't work then resort him to DM.I agree that on current form he's way down the pecking order, but played regular scholes and co are nowhere near imo.

If Fergie gives Anderson 5 straight games in the number 10 position and Anderson flops it will do damage to his confidence and Fergie will be taking slack for that Anderson came into the team, and in his first start played of the striker against Sunderland and was useless.couple games later we suffer a small injury crises and he fills in in a deeper roleand is a revalation against both Liverpool and Arsenal. so he kept his place in that position.if he came in, played well there then fergie moved him back into that number 10 role and it didn't go well people would've been saying fergie should've left him playing deeper.Andersons problem is he hasn't started the season well. its not like Fergie has been bad to him in terms of playing time or opportunities so i'm not sure why people are going on like as soon as fergie leaves the real Anderson will shine. If a player isn't hitting the levels expected he gets dropped its as simple as that in the last two seasons especially the first Anderson and Carrick were two of the first names on the team sheet for some of the big games.some people were saying he should be tried on the wings, against Burnley he was and he was abysmal. his saving grace is that his attitude on the pitch is excellent and so i fully expect him to come good. But the fact is since he's come to United his best performances have been in cm role thats why he's played there.
