Official Smoking/Weed Thread

Don't know how you'll save money if it was legalised.

You'd probably end up paying more for your weed. This country's tax systems are crazy, imagine 75% tax on 1 gram of weed and a gram already costing 10 quid (What it roughly costs in Amsterdam). It's probably why legalisation is so far out, tax evasion will always be a problem...

Course it would be

How can you possibly think it wouldnt save you (as a smoker) money?

You would be paying for fluff , you would be paying £10 for a gram that is consistently going to be piff.

At the moment the street prices are worse then that , and your not garunteed to get something PIFF either.

Would u rather keep picking up your wet 8ths , that weigh 1.7 OR Pick up some nice fluffy 8ths that are 2g.

Do you honestly think the government is THAT stupid ?

iF they legalize weed , they will have to sell it at a price , that is better then street price , or whats the point.

i cant see then putting that ammount of tax on a product , even though it wouldnt cost much to grow.

A bottle of JD priced at £12.99 (or whatever they cost) is 80% tax.

A packet of cigs at £3.49 (or whatever they cost) is 85% tax.

Petrol is 75% tax.

There's dons making 100 bags a week importing alcohol and cigs into this country evading tax, straight into cash and carries. It's a huge problem. Legalising cannabis will only add to this.

Thats an interesting assumption , but i dont think they will follow in them same footsteps if they was to legalize weed. Im guessing it would all be regulated properly with street prices being completely out of the competition.

What would be the point in legalizing weed , if smokers were still encouraged to pick up weed from dealers in the street.

Makes no sense to me.

your assuming that they would tax it as a percentage of the current price...

which is basically determined by demand, supply and the cost of risk...

IF its legal, the risk cost gets chucked out. the supply cost also goes down because ppl will be able to mass produce more easily. generally it will become a more economical market if its regulated properly...

THEN the tax gets put on. after all that i cant see it being much more than the prices in dam tbh.

Why would it be taxed differently to cigs and alcohol?

i'm not saying it would be, i'm just saying the percentage of the cost that makes up the tax will have a smaller overall value because the cost (before tax) in a legal system would be lower. then the cost + the tax wouldn't be as high as you make out and the government would still get there high tax percentage.

because weed is illegal the price is inflated a lot.

At £10 a gram the total price would probably be £18 a gram.

2g's of peng amnesia or whatever the in ting happens to be, will probably cost £15 which will bring the price of 2g's to about £50 including tax.

I doubt they would base their pricing on current street prices + tax

but yeah

it will be better but more expensive

edit - i see the above has already been covered

ask the americans - its great - you can get a prescription for all sorts of bullshit like appetite disorders, sleeping disorders, anxiety along with the more serious conditions

the weed is even more expensive than sh*t here

but its BOOM

its not about major changes or making it publicly available

its about letting smokers grow their own smoke, letting adults trade behind closed doors.

There can be even stricter punishment for those who break the regulations, but a person could obtain a grow license for up to say 3 plants per head in a household.

The card would only be given to a person who has passed certain background checks, such as medical checks for any genetic predispositions, and cognitive check to see whether cannabis would be detrimental, and criminal check to see if there any any links to suppliers.

if any criminal activity takes place and they supply gangs or grow more then quota there could be major repercussions, but if the law is abided then people can happily smoke their own grow/smoke some of their friends grow.

as for smoking it you should have to prove your age minimum age should be 21 if u are smoking it younger then then then u are breakin the law just like drink

theres alot i hvnt addressd n alot im thinkin about but yeh
