Taurus
Could we benefit from a change of formation or is the one we're using best suited to the players available? When Walcotts on the right I feel Giroud up front is a decent option as Theo cuts inside but when he's not playing I feel we are lacking pace/threat up front. When Podolski plays on the left he's abit clinical in front of goal and isnt afraid to take shots but Wenger dont rate him for some reason. Should Cazorla come off the bench? I dont think Ozil and Cazorla work well together, maybe its just me, but I prefer an inside forward on the left. Maybe Giroud as a shadow striker with someone in front of him to pick up the flick ons? I just feel we could accommodate the players available abit better. Discuss... Badman
I do feel at times that Wenger is playing it safe with his selections. Course we are hampered with injuries for key players and that doesnt help of course Only problem is we only have one striker to chose from therefore that prevents us changing formations. You can see how much Wenger rates Bendtner because even when he was fully integrated into the team he was playing him wide. Sonogo isnt a feasible option either. Podolski Wenger doesnt really rate. etc That only gives us the midfield to play around with and I suppose he has in a way tried a few options My only gripe is the under utilisation of players like Podolski and Rosicky, they both should be starting the big games imo
Captain Planet
C/S the Podo underutilization Frustrates me to see him on the bench, even if he can only do 60 mins
Michel Kane
We're a possession-based side who don't employ a system suited for that style. A 4-2-3-1 at the highest level requires a certain dynamism & athleticism in advanced areas that we don't have bar Walcott, Rosicky, Gnabry & Podolski and well, bar Walcott none of them are starters for us. Even then, Rosicky should be no more than a rotational option, same thing with Podolski & it's perhaps to early for Gnabry. Similar with Oxlade-Chamberlain. We could change the formation to maybe a 4-2-2-2 much like the one City use, with Ozil & Cazorla as the 'interiors' on the flanks but we lack the defensive CM's required for that. You COULD play either Wilshere/Ramsey/Arteta but it would be absolute crucial for them play alongside a 'specialist' defensive CM. That's not forgetting to mention another quality striker to play alongside Giroud so at least for now, we're stuck until next season. You could play Podolski/Walcott with him, but I dunno. A 3-5-2 could be another option. Koscielny, Mertersacker & Vermaelen, Arteta as the CM, Ramsey & Wilshere as the shuttlers, Gibbs as the LWB, Giroud as a targetman, Ozil in behind but we don't have a rightback who has the skillset of a wingback IMO. And we'd be short of cover at CB, DM, RWB & CF anyway. We're at a bit of a quandry here fellas.
TF S4DK
Our movement is dead. Podolski with Monreal would make little difference imo. Podolski offers goal threat but I wouldn't really say running. Wenger is hampered by Walcott injury, it's unfortunate granted, but to not use Gibbs when you haven't got Walcott is insane. While Gnabry has speed, and at first I was all for him, I noticed he runs inside a hell of a lot, with no real purpose. Same with Chamberlain he likes to run only with the ball when he's on the wing. Gibbs and Walcott like to run in behind, Walcott was so fast the ball could be sloppy but was always on it. Gibbs can only do his running from deep, same with Ramsey but at least they go, the rest don't.
TF S4DK
Altho maybe I'm being harsh on Oxlade as he did do it versus Crystal Palace.
TF S4DK
Monreal did run behind Liverpool's defence once, the chance Mignolet nearly gifted us.

Lens
so You man don't see Podolski as Your 2nd choice CF option, or a decent partner up front for Giroud?
TF S4DK
Podolski on the left for me, if not then as the #10, I dont expect him to do link up/stereotypical #10 play, but he can afford to be a luxury there and work off the bits Giroud creates for him, which is ultimately what he does on the left anyway. Fearless-Guy
but girouds hold up play and little flicks >>>>>> maybe we should try a 4-1-3-1-1 with podolski playing off him up top flamini obviously being the defensive mid with jack ozil and santi/rosicky making up the

Jam
That's what I don't understand...what is Wenger actually on? Playing with all playmakers coupled with a striker who is not going to run in behind and create space, SMH. And then the Podolski omissions make it even harder for me to understand. I think Wenger's obsessed with the tekera. It's just the consistent stubborness (or cluelessness?) he's displaying, over and over again, that is losing me
Badman
no point over thinking it you will find your answer to that in March
